There is 4-5 of us coming from Ditto landing to Pickwick next week. I am sure there are a few locals to this spot?

We plan to hit wheeler Tuesday night, aqua Wednesday night, try for the he waterfall cove Thursday night, Friday is up in the air, and satruday back to wheeler.

Anyone have some insite to how busy it will be this next week. I know the 4th will be slammed but hoping thursday being mid week, not the weekend and holiday the day before think we have a shot at getting the cove for a overnight stay?

Also was told it was a dry county, from looking at maps it wet all 3 sides Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi. But somethjng was said about the lake itself. So any info on that from a local would be great too. Not that we plan to be idiots but we do drink and anchor out and stay the night.

I am local to Pickwick Lake (Grand Harbor Marina). The Tennessee and Mississippi counties are not dry. Parts of Alabama are. Been harassed in Alabama when I had my Fountain. Dry Creek is where many of us hook up. Will be there all of next week. Are you getting a transient slip somewhere?

Yes we are told can see fireworks from aqua marina. We have transit slips there for wednesday. Thursday we plan to stay on a hook hopefully in waterfall cove/Yellow creek. Friday we are open. Debating making reservations at grand harbor or McFarland park, or oickwick state park? I am open to ideas.

Good to know not Dry now, google says 2013 was when it changed.

On a map Dry creek beach is kind of behind a island between pickwick Dam
And the turn for grand harbor. Is this where you talking about?

Close. If you look on a map there is a deep cove on the other side of the peninsula where Dry Creek Beach is. You would cruise past the islands and hang a right. During the day Dry Creek is the party cove. And, at night there are usually several boats staying overnight. Since this is in TN the TWRA are pretty cool!

You mentioned staying overnight in the Waterfall Cove. It is a small cove and may not be suited for 4-5 boats. Can be done. There are several other coves (Whetstone (MS) on the same side and Panther (AL) across the river) near that people use.

We usually keep the radio on when we are on the boat. Boat name is "Pamela Gale". And, we will definitely be in Dry Creek on the 4th.

Thanks for the info! I will have my Radio on as well. Boats named OBNOXIOUS.

We got a slip then night of the 4th figured lots of late night traffic so might as well be parked safe and out of the way. Play more on Thursday. And Friday.

And I have been to the cove before all growing up and 2 years ago when we brought a 330 back a buddy bought out of the state park. So I know the cove well, we did 2 back to back in it with some smaller ones on the sides and works out. Who knows if anyone else in there that night though.

Well 261.5 miles, 6 days/5nights, are 301 gallons later, great trip!

Took my 2002 340, sisters 1998 330, parents Formula 330SS, and friends 1993 23o Dancer. stoped in wheeler and met some friends, aqua for 2 nights, McFarland park/Florence marina, and then wheeler again.

boat did great, zero issues.

New SMartcraft set up was awesome to check on things, New AIS working helped with locks and seeing traffic, DSC calling was awesome when talking to brother in laws as we tied up. good times!

I did have a prop Failer on my DJI Phantom... and it sank in the middle of the waterfall cove....
