The cockpit ice maker worked great last year. After the marina dewinterized my boat, nothing happens. My recollection is it runs off the same circuit as the galley fridge and the ice maker has its own on/off switch under the door. Nothing happens when on. The arm of the ice maker is at about the 4 o'clock position and never moves. Any suggestions?

Are you saying there is no power to it at all? Or are you saying it's cold and just the arm doesn't move? The mechanism that controls the arm is cheap and quite readily available. It's can also be found free at most scrap yards that have fridges with ice makers.

Well, it doesn't get cold and the arm doesn't move. I knew there was another trick, but I couldn't remember. The GFI may be it. I think it is located in the aft head, but not for sure. Anyone have any idea for sure where the GFI is located?

Yes, it runs off the same circuit as the fridge, but the fridge may be AC/DC and just running off the battery. Check the main AC breaker panel and ensure that the fridge/ice maker breaker is in the on position.

Mine is plug into an outlet behind it. So if your GFI is not tripped you may want to see if they plugged it back in after servicing.

There is no GFCI for Ice Maker or Refrigerator nor is there a requirement for a GFCI.

ttmott, you might be correct. But, that wasn't my understanding.

I have an outlet underneath the galley sink that is a GFI receptacle. I thought that GFI also worked the outlets behind the ice maker. I tested it and I'm incorrect. It isn't connected to that GFI.

Well, I tested the GFI under the sink and the one in the aft head. Neither were tripped and after resetting neither fixed the problem. Back to square one.

is there possibly a gfi for the cockpit outlets. they might be inside one of the storage pockets in the coaming or next to the seats---ice maker is on that circuit on my 420 da.

So this evening I noticed a hum that seems to come from the ice maker. The compressor does not come on at all. I would have thought the compressor would kick on almost immediately.

After more destruction and research, I was able to dig back to the outlet and test and I have 120v. After messing with it some more, I noticed the ice tray was hot. So, it is in the cycle mode to melt the ice so it can scoop it out of the tray. However, it is hung up right there. If I leave it on for an hour, it will stay warm on the tray for an hour. Any idea how to get it to move to the next cycle of rotating the ice out (if there was any) and refilling the tray with water?

Had same issue a couple years back. Pull the white cover off that covers the gears. It says u line on it as soon as you open the door. The cover is a pita to get off but keep playing with it and it will come off. Lube up the plastic wheels and all the gears and give it a little help rotating and it should be fine

When you take the cover off you will notice the small gear has a hex head shape on the end of it. If you put a wrench on it and start to turn it will probably begin turning by itself and start to cycle. Might just need a new micro switch.

I have a 1999 38' Sundancer with an ice maker in the cockpit. I defrosted it the other day and now it won't turn back on. It seems to not have any power going to it. The power is inside the unit because I checked the switch and it is good. Any ideas?
