Was out on my boat this weekend. After a day on a mooring started the motors to head back to the dock. All seemed fine as we pulled out of the inlet we were in. No alarms, no hesitation, .....starboard motor dies. Won't restart. Cranks over, but doesn't start. Bring mechanic to the boat the next day and it fires right up. Filters in the cool fuel system seem good, but we change them anyway. Thoughts?? BTW the motors are 8.1 Horizons.

Thanks,
Mark

Run it again until it stalls and won’t restart.

Then check for spark and fuel pressure.

Had the exact same issue two months ago. 2001 8.1s. Turned out to be the crank shaft sensor was going bad. Just enough to kill the engine dead like a gremlin but not slow enough to set alarm or codes.

Mines done that when it runs too slow for too long,, seems the gas engines will flood eventually if its just idling along. Let it sit for a day and fires right up.
