I have a 93 270 DA, has anyone or can I safely install in deck rod holders on the transom?
I would like 3 across the back and 1 down each side.. but I don’t want to affect structural integrity of the transom.
Thanks!

Please post a picture of exactly where you are thinking of put them.

Thanks, I’ve attached photos, I can’t install rod holders across the back as the rear seat is in the way.
How about one or two on the side, over the bilge blower vents? I want to be able to troll fish. I’m removing the rear facing seat and ordered a 250 Qt Yeti cooler with a pad for seating on top as a fish box.
I’ve also attached photos of brackets on the rear outside of the transom. Does anyone know what these brackets are for, or how they could be used? I bought the boat on EBay from a guy that claimed he had owned and used the boat 3 seasons, but had no PM or repair records, no manuals and really had no knowledge of the boat.
Thanks for your time!

I'd mount the Bert's or Traxtech type tracks along the gunwales. Minimal holes, and many options for rod holders to slide in, down riggers etc..Any sort of clamp on rod holder will fail if you're salmon fishing..just too much torque if using dipsy divers, plus a fish hitting etc..

Is there clearance above your vent blower box? The top of the gunwale, where it is very thick, is a VERY secure place to mount flush rod holders. Note that there are different grades. Some are only good for trolling with very light tackle.

Those larger brackets are for slide-in rod holders. I believe the smaller one might be a receiver cor a Magma gril mount.

That’s Great, I hoped the brackets were for slide in rod holders! I just didn’t know! Now I need to find rod holders that fit. I have several big rods, I plan to troll with, (Penn 6.0 and 9 W senators, and International 20 and 30 reels on Tuna tamer rods)
As for the magma grill bracket, that’s probably accurate too.. there is a Magma grill bag and accessories that was under a seat, but no grill...
Thanks so much!

I have those slide in ones on my Grady. I would not use them for anything more than very light tackle. They are rod "holders", afterall, not ones meant for real trolling.
