I've been watching the Middle River fireworks since 2007. They fire them off from a barge anchored near the Baltimore Yacht Club. Up until and including 2016, the Eastern Yacht Club sponsored the display and donated any profits to charities. In 2016, they only broke even so there was nothing to donate. In 2017, there were no fireworks in Middle River. For 2018 the Marine Trades Association of Baltimore County will be bringing the display back to Middle River.
People who live in the immediate area throw massive back yard parties and hundreds of boats typically show up as well. The former sponsors were correctly upset that they were unable to raise enough money to put on the display and make their charitable donations. If you plan on watching from your boat or having a party for your friends and relatives to watch the show, I implore you to make a donation to the MTABC to ensure that we will able to enjoy it in upcoming years.
As a side note, the MTABC has also put together a very nice aerial tour of the upper Chesapeake in Baltimore County located here: http://videos.sproutvideo.com/embed/189adfb41a18e6c790/5705e4750c57bd5c
