420 DA Thread

Should any of you mariners become interested in selling your 420/44 DA's: let me know. I finally got the Admiral to move forward. Looking for a white hull,V-Drive Diesel,Bow thruster,
will pay a premium for a truly well maintained, 1 or 2 owner, boat with full maintenance documentation. Thanks.

Good afternoon guys. Permission to enter the 44 thread:)

I need to fix the sliding door to the aft stateroom/cabin. One of the rollers is bent. Any ideas on how to get the doors out?

Pretty sure the outside (galley/salon side) facia in front of the tracks just pulls down but I have not tried it. I started to pull my doors out to replace the pins that secure the bottom then realized it was just as easy to pull doors into the aft cabin and work from below with a short screwdriver.

You can also try calling Sea Ray customer service - they have been helpful to people looking for info like this.

I have this problem of actuators solved... PM me if you end up in this situation

Hi Blueone,

Would you mind posting what you worked out here in the forum thread? Many times members start here when they find an issue and it's very helpful to be able to find solutions right off the bat.

Plus, I'm just curious. :)

Thanks

Anyone replace their refrigerator in their cabin? I'm looking for a Brand/Model number that replaces original. Sea Ray P/N is 1691278. And if you have info on Cockpit refrig I could use that too. Thanks.
Soon to be owner 2006 44 DA.

Anyone add cockpit a/c to their 420? Does it help? cost? issues?
thanks,
Bob

No idea about how difficult it is to add but can talk about how effective it is. I don't see in your profile where you live but if it's hot like it is here in Texas then I'd say it isn't worth the expense and effort.

In the summer I typically run with all my isinglass off so the only coolness I feel is on my knees and a couple of passengers in the back who sit in the corner closest to the driver get some cooling, but not much. If you were to run with the canvas on there's no way the standard unit would keep that area cool with all the radiant heat coming in.

In the winter I do use it for heat with the isinglass up and it does a good job.

Thanks copb8tx. We will be keeping the boat in Florida. I didn't think it would do much while cursing. I thought it might be helpful while at the dock, with the isinglass and back cover zipped. I would like to be able to enjoy the cockpit area in the mornings with a cup of Joe or in the evenings with a cocktail. In the Florida heat and humidity I don't expect it to be "cool" but perhaps just to make it tolerable. Should I bid on one without cockpit air I would want to evaluate what thats worth. If its not practical then it becomes a non issue.

On my 420 the upholstered panels near the top of the door would pull out to give access to the rollers. It is tight but will come out. Then you can adjust the door to clear the bottom track.
If you need rollers let me know as I have extras.

A question will be whether you're going to keep the isinglass above the windshield up all the time. It's a pain to take down and put back up. There rear curtain is a cinch.

If you leave it up you're going to sweat during the day when underway. If you like it down while cruising you're going to hate to have to put it up in the morning before your first cup.

That said, I've heard many people say cockpit air was a requirement when looking. I have it and knowing what I know now I wouldn't walk away from the perfect boat is it didn't have it.

Now the hardtop is a 100% must

I looked at an 06 44 yesterday and the top of the sound shield on the Onan generator had a complete rust hole thru it. Not a pin size, a fairly decent size circle had caved in. Has anyone else experienced this? Appeared water came from top floor area and would sit on top. It is not my boat so I'm not sure what exactly happened in the past. Can just the top of sound shield be purchased as a repair?

Bob,
ITs like pissing into the wind. Largest 110 V unit is 16,000 btu. During day its worthless. At nite is when it shines. Also the heat is great for early and late in the season. If u really want to do it . U need to add a back drop Right behind the helm to contain the ac

Every other Real boat manufacture uses min 30,000 Btus . Requires 208 electric .

The 42/44 is well known for water leaks over the gen. Look carefully at the pan under the generator and you will find it is either rusted or it has been replaced. I found water leaked through the cockpit shower and followed the hose right over to to the generator.
As far as new parts, some were available , you would need to call or plan on having a new panel made.
