im still hung up on the battery situation. how come i have three solenoid switches on the panel, port starboard, and gen, however i have two sets of batteries. 2 batteries on port side wired in series, and two on starboard wired in series. i dont get it?

I have been trying to get comfortable with this too. Can someone please explain/correct/confirm the stock setup for the four battery configuration.

Reading the manual it looks like the port batteries feeds the cabin main panel (and all the items listed there) as
well as the sump pump and cockpit refrigerator.

The starboard side shows it feeds the EIMs and electronics at helm. It also looks like they feed the generator and the windlass (which can individually be isolated by the solenoids) and are also tied together.

Each side (port and starboard) also powers the associated engine. Does this sound correct?

I pulled out the two starboard batteries and replaced them, what u are saying seems to be correct, port bank covers port motor and house equipment in cabin like lights, fridges etc. starboard bank covers cockpit lighting, engine hatch stuff like that. The generator I think pulls from all batteries but not sure

I replaced all of my batteries this weekend with group 31 AGM batteries. (The link to the ones I posted earlier). While replacing I observed mostly along the lines of what Kevin said. The generator feeds off the starboard battery bank as does all the systems Kevin noted. Same for port bank. So far as engines I’m confused because I de-energized the port bank and was able to start the port engine. I didn’t try starboard but next time I’m down on the boat I will. There’s a switch at the helm next to the engine start switches that I (thought) was meant to pull power from other house batteries if the starting ones for a particular engine were dead. Maybe engines pull from both banks? Not sure. Anyway hoping I get some significant mileage off these batteries.

Hi everybody, I am looking for some help, I have a 2005 340 [375 here in Aus] with twin 320s FWC on shafts and have an electrical problem which has me stumped.
When starboard batteries are energized very little works, no ignition, no instrumentation, even battery check gauge in panel shows nil reading even though batteries are fully charged and engine hatch lift works fine but only when starboard battery switch is energized which is how it should be.
Port side is fine, engine starts and runs just no instrumentation which I know is run from the starboard batteries.
My best guess is the ign switches are the problem but the fact that nil voltage is indicated in the check gauge has me a bit confused.
Any help would be greatly appreciated so thanks in advance.

I'm looking at at 2005 with the same problem. Does anyone know what the issue was with this problem?

There is a small breaker up under the engine cover near the forward left (as you are standing behind the engine) corner. When it is tripped, the symptoms are as you guys describe.

I'm purchasing a 2005 340 and need to take the Raymarine Radar off the arch. The mount also has the navigation light attached as well. What is the process for taking this dome off the arch and what tools will I need?

Depends on the mount that was used to determine the tools but most likely a socket set and some wrenches. The full radar mount can be removed from inside the arch - take out the center access panel and you will have access to the bolts.

If you need to fully remove the TV antenna or GPS mounts they are usually accessible from the top or by removing the arch lights if needed for access underneath.

Just unscrew four 1/2 inch screws from the bottom of the base and the radome comes loose. Then undo the wire. I just cut it. The aluminum base stays there to hold the nav light. Use the old base to attach any new radome or antenna.
I stept on the helm and cabin door to do the job. No need to removed the canvas. Just remove the insiglass. The old wire can stay there. Its hard to remove the entire wire. The arch part is easy. But on my boat it goes inside the cabin and comes out again to the helm. It's sealed with silicone on very hard to reach areas. Difficult but not impossible.

Easy canvas trick on some of our boats for arch top access. I release the support tube via the push button and it will lay right along the arch. With a small 2 or 3 step ladder next to the helm seats I can be up on the arch with out having to worry about stepping on the seats or breaking something on the helm. Then just bring the tubes down to retention.

I am needing to get up there to swap out anchor light bulbs with LED’s and hadn’t quite figured out the best way to get at it yet. That sounds perfect. Thanks for the tip!

If u are dropping the radar for transport purposes, I think mine was thru bolted to the mount. I think they took the four bolts out and folded the whole assembly down forward and secured it with a piece of carpet and tape, u would need a socket set and an adjustable wrench for the thru bolts. Maybe bring wire cutter just in case, don’t forget crimps and shrinkwrap tubing to put wires back together if need be

Yep - its a whole lot easier than all the unsnapping and unzipping. Just leave the canvas attached and release the lock pin on the support and push forward. I have a folding three step that is light and gets me up there to work. Which I will be needing soon to put up my new Quantum Radar.

Thanks for the reply. I don't want to cut the wire because I will be putting it back up after the boat is transported. Do the wires plug in to a wiring harness inside of the dome and just need to be unplugged or is there more to it than that?

Hey I remember over the winter guys were talking about cleaning the filters that are inside the faucet knobs in the bathroom, how do I get those knobs off?

The screens are inside the end of the spigot - just unscrew the end of the spigot - use a cloth and wrap it and use a pliers if you can't get them loose by hand.
