40 sedan bridge forum

Bolsters are a breeze. They have the little plastic Christmas tree connectors in them, and just pull straight out. No screws. I did my own in an evening in my garage, and just went right over what was there using an air powered staple gun. They're pretty cheap if you already have a compressor. It will take a ton of staples...The hardest part was stretching it on the compound curve and keeping it wrinkle free in the bend while at the same time stapling it on the back. Probably easier with 2 people. I used a really high quality vinyl like Ultraleather that was very easy to work with and had nice stretch. Very soft, and easy to clean. Really happy with how it turned out. Post pics!

Thanks for the quick reply. My wife wants to use ultraleather as well so I will show her the picks of yours. Guess I was not pulling hard enough to pop the fasteners. Did not want to break anything.

Cool. Gently stick a large flat bladed screwdriver in from the top, maybe even wrapped in tape to prevent marring anything and just work them loose. They're all on the top.

I am nervously making the jump. Going to put my 97 Sedan Bridge 400 on the market and purchase an 2001 Sedan Bridge 480. I am going to list my 400 myself for a while before considering a broker. I am familiar with Boat Trader and will list it there. Are there any other good websites to list it on? Yacht World requires you be a broker. I have a great boat for sale and it is a little heart breaking to let her go. Excited and nervous at the same time.

Craigslist.

I sold my 400EC on CL and bought my present boat on CL.

Do yourself a favor and avoid the whole broker game. It's not that difficult to sell (or buy) a boat without a broker.

My master stateroom shower faucet is leaking. I haven't tried unscrewing the handles to see if there is anything to tighten yet but will. Before I head down this weekend I was hoping to have some pointers. I REALLY don't want to pull the fridge out as it was not easy getting it into that space. I'm confident I'll damage something else doing so.

Anyone know the manufacturer? I could buy new packing if so.

What were the logistics and costs associated with the fly by wire retrofit?

Sorry I just noticed your reply, I’m not sure about cost of install.
Everything was done by prior owner, I’ll take photos of the controllers in the engine room this weekend.
I’m trying to attach a photo of the controller on the bridge.

My boat doesn't have factory-fitted sun pads... I spoke with Sea Ray this morning and they gave me the following cushion sunpad part numbers as: 1749236 (just the skin) and 1749237 (entire sunpad), but I don't think they still have the patterns... does anyone have experience of retro-fitting sunpads?... if I could just get the patterns, I could get my canvas guy to make them no problem, I'm sure... thoughts?

Cheers,
Simon

Removing the coffee maker.

First of all, what genius at Sea Ray came up with the absurd way the coffee maker is mounted inside the cabinet? This is seriously ignorant.

I spent all afternoon trying to get the Black and Decker coffee maker out, no luck. I did get a screw out of one side ( a 1 and 1/2 inch wood screw, seriously?)

At this point it looks like I will have to take a dremel and cut the damn thing up piece by piece to remove it.

Have your canvas guy come out and make a pattern, then build it for you.

Try looking for screws up under the cabinet. I took mine out and it came out in one piece. I don’t remember where all the screws are located. It did come out in one piece.

I did. I found the one side screw and got it out. There is a plastic piece on either side that I can't get the coffee maker to release from.

pretty sure the coffee maker can be removed peacefully. I'm not the most patient guy but I do recall someone detailing how it comes out. I think it was Bill, ZZ13. He's a wizard on this boat!

Screws on the sides and bottom. I had to cut the cord to get it to come out.

There are two brackets on the upper side that the coffee maker slides and clicks into (the sides of the coffee maker have grooves that mate with the brackets) and then just one screw in the bottom of the left side keeping it in place. Remove the one screw, slide the coffee maker forward to remove it, then unscrew the brackets. I did not have to cut the power cord. I have removed two on two different boats and both were installed this way.

Do you (or anyone else) have sun pads on the foredeck?... I’d like to have some idea of the size, location, mounting etc... of the way Sea Ray intended, so my canvas guy has some parameters from which to work?... if anyone can post or PM photos to me I’d really appreciate it. Thanks

Can't help you there. A good canvas guy would be able to look at the boat, ask you some questions (size, location and mounting) and then come up with a pattern and make you your sunpad custom.

Right now I'm having trouble "unclicking" the side mounts.
