480 DB Owners Club

I bought them from Marinebeam but now that I think about it, I had to remove them because they didn't work well with the dimmer.

Which door is this for? I don't think i have any doors with that particular mechanism.
All of my cabin and bathroom doors have this mechanism inside them. I swapped the bad one from the bathroom for the laundry room for now, as that is the one least in need of a lock.

There is no manufacturer name, nor part number on it anywhere. The brass trim piece over the latching mechanism says "Period Brass" on it.

Anybody got a part number / source for the pushbutton latches for the bathroom mirror cabinets, I need several of the entire latch mechanism? Thanks

Google "Hafele push button latch" and you'll find them. I bought a couple off of ebay.

There is a new style and old style mechanism. Not sure if they are interchangeable but you can tell by looking at them. The new style looks more modern.

Well, I donated an anchor to the sea gods last night. Swivel broke in the middle of the night during winds in the outer part of Sag Harbor. Thankfully I woke when the winds shifted and got fired up on to a mooring. Only thing bad was the loss of a good anchor... Be sure to check the swivels guys... btw anyone know if it’s a 44 or 35lbs delta fast set?

The parts manual says 44lb galvanized plow. Not sure what brand they are but mine works great. Had six boats hanging on it Saturday.

Does anybody have a mixing valve on their water heater? My old 380DA had one but this boat does not and the hot water gets up to about 135 degrees. The PO did some plumbing work on the heater so not sure if he removed it. I need to tone it down with my young kids.

Ours get super hot as well and we do not have any type of mixing valve on the tank either. What about changing the thermostat on the tank?

Does anyone know how many shaft zincs are required on our boats? Mine has a pair on each shaft (4 total)and that seems overkill. My 340 did not use any. Thanks for the input.

Many people add them, but Sea Ray says they are not necessary. If they come loose and slide down to the CB, they can cause it to fail. I caught one of mine just in time..

I'm with Aaron about adding brushes to the shafts. Aaron - are they easy to obtain and set up? I've not looked for them yet...

My boat doesn’t have any, and i believe we’ve discussed this earlier in the forum. I think we came to the conclusion that most of us don’t have them at all.
I called Sea Ray from the boat yard while they putting them on and got the support tech for our 480's, had to put him on speaker phone for the boat yard guys to hear him say it, he said Sea Ray does not put them on the year/model I have (04/qsm11s) and not to use them, the galvanic isolation system should protect them.

I've seen an earlier discussion on this, but its a few years old and I'd like to get some current feedback if anyone has replaced the original smart craft diesel view with Vessel view 7. I see that SBMAR has a pretty detailed write-up and conversion info on this. My specific questions are, do you still get all the info that was available from Diesel view, like the messages that specific to our boats from the other systems beyond engine info? Where are the SIM modules located on the boat that you have to check the versions on for compatability? Is it a pretty straight forward plug and play ? --- I spoke with the Vessel view tech and seemed to have a few glitches that had to be dealt with? Where did you install the VV7? --- enlarge the hole that the Diesel View is in? Anybody got a working old Smart Craft Diesel View they want to unload so I can put this off a while? Thanks for any feedback

Also, any recommendations on draining the coolant? I need to open the cooling system back up to check something. I know there is a fitting at the bottom of the HX and one just under where the HX pipe goes into the front side of the engine, but what size fitting would go in them, I guess you just screw it in as quickly as possible? Thanks

I think I got them from Defender Carter. Had to make and epoxy a fiberglass mounting block to the stringer then just run a wire to a common ground.
