Boat Info
370 DA
Engines
Bravo III
Port engine spontaneously cuts out while trying to get up on step. Vessel View warning indicates low voltage as the vault. All batteries charged up and generating solid 800amps of power, no loose connections noted. Engine runs fine at idle, running cool, generating 14V, however, it continued to cut out under heavy load. Thoughts on what the cause might be welcome.

It's very difficult to diagnose just by the symptoms. But if it were my boat I would start with new spark plugs, ignition wires and fuel filters. Since you have a low voltage warning I would try a jumper cable from the engine block directly into the negative terminal of one battery. It could be a corroded ground strap. But I think that the low voltage is produce by the engine cutting off and not the other way around. The engine cutting off because of a low voltage situation.

8.1's ...I'd put my money on spark plugs. Definitely start there.

amps and volts can look fine but if cold cranking amps are low everything goes sideways. your 8.1s sensors work in a 5v ref system. the 5v ref feeds info to the ECM. If the volts drop below 5v it shuts the ecm off. hence engine dies. a bad or going bad sensor can also disrupt the 5v ref. in my case it was a bad crank shaft sensor. it took weeks to figure it out as no codes flagged because the interrution was so quick. I swapped sensors between engines until the good engine died.

hopefully this can help.

We have a 12' model 370 that didn't come with a sun pad filler cushion that goes in place of the table. Does your's have this? and do you have any pictures of how it goes? I do have the part# 2076938 for the cushion it's self however if i buy the cushion does it simply set on the teak table with the short post under it? or is there another part i need to purchase? Please help! Thank You!!
