I changed both fuel filters on my engines and am getting ready to start her up. I'm now wondering if I will need to pre fill the filters in order to get them started or if the electric pumps will draw fuel from the tank and prime the filters. Anybody have a quick answer?

So....one of two things is true:

1) You have aftermarket electric fuel pumps which are generally inserted in the fuel line after the water separator and before the fuel filter.

2) You have mechanical fuel pumps which are after the fuel filter.

If you have electric.....and are just replacing the fuel filter.....no problem because the pump is pushing the fuel through the filter to the carb.

If you have mechanical, filling the fuel filter with gas will help dramatically with the engine cranking associated with a mechanical pump since the pump pulls fuel through the filter.

If you are replacing the water separators, filling them helps take the air out of the system.

In all cases, handling open gas in the bilge is a very serious matter.

They are electric fuel pumps that came on the new crate motors I installed a few seasons ago. I pre filled the seperator filters with gas and aired out the bilge very well. Both engines started in a few seconds, very minimal cranking. Thanks for the logic check guys.
