Hi I am new to the forum. I am looking at a 2000 200 select BR or a 2001 210 Sundeck . I’m torn. Which would ride better? Which has higher sides, deeper cockpit? I like the SD with larger cockpit. I also like to have more people however love the sun pad. Like the option of the head and sink but not really necessary. Very torn on which would ride better. The Sundeck looks quite low in the front as compared to the bowrider. When we stepped onto the BR I felt very secure. The SD feels more open and airy. Which cuts through the water better? I boat in BArnegat Bay, NJ. Thanks for the help.

In that size, where every inch counts, I like the Sundeck. More usable interior space.

I have a 2004 Select and it cuts easily through the inland lake chop we have around here. I too was torn between the Select and Sundeck. I'm happy with my Select (got tired of waiting on a Sundeck to come up for sale.) I love the open layout of the Sundeck as we haul a lot of people and gear all the time, but the Select works great for us, plenty of storage. The deadrise and weight is similar between the 2 so I don't think you would see much difference in ride. All things being equal pick the one you like and go with it.

I have a 2005 Sundeck, and knowing what I know now about it, I'd be willing to travel a distance to buy one. The Select to me is a great sleek boat. It has a sporty look to it. To me it like comparing two of the same cars: The coupe/sedan to the wagon model. The Sundeck is a great family boat. We have the bow filler cushion and a snap on tent and camp out on it.

The SD is a 2001 with 290 hours, 5.7 mercruiser; the Select is a 2004 with a 5.0 with 500 hours. The Select looks like a more solid (deeper) boat, however the SD looks more roomy. Boat used in salt water. Select comes with a trailer. Both around $12,500.

Can you provide more information on your snap on tent. I think I would like one for my 2016 270 SDX

Barnegat Bay gets pretty sloppy most days. We had a 220 Sundeck and after several times taking waves over the front, we got the Sundancer. Not sure how much higher the bow rides on the select, but you may want to consider a cuddy cabin or fishing type boat in that size range for that area.

I actually bought it here on CSR from another member. I have seen them other places as well. It was custom made from a canvas shop. The guy I use for canvas said he has made a few in the past. I have a picture i put up recently in the Sundeck Facebook group

Trailblazer, thank you for responding. I could not find the picture on the facebook group. If you could report the picture and a CSR contact, that may help.

I have boated on the Barnegat Bay for over 25 years. I agree with the previous post. You need to be looking for a 24ft boat at a minimum to use in the bay. In the afternoon the wind picks up and the waves are steep and close together. This is because of high winds and shallow water. If you purchase too small a boat I guarantee you will be looking for a bigger one for next season. Happy hunting
