Hi Fellow Sea Ray owners.....I bought a 1999 Sun Sport 280 last year and love it. I was going through all of my electrical components after launching and I can not figure out why my cockpit (3 - 3 inch) lights in the drivers area, at almost floor level, are not working. Also, it does not appear my dash lights are working either. Also, while investigating behind the steering column I noticed wire 309 was hooked up to a 12 volt block and 312 was hanging. I looked in the wiring schematics and 309 and 312 are hooked to a switch type device for high water level. Should I connect the wire to the other terminal? I am a fairly newer boater and an electrician by trade but electrical is not DC. Also, it does not appear to have a fuse box, just a push button breaker box under the steering wheel. Thank you in advance for any help.

Was searching site for Sun Sport owners and stumbled across your post from mid April. Did you get your lighting problem solved. I have a '97 280SS and can probably help if needed.

I did thank you but I have another question though. The first issue was a wire came off. Now, I am trying to figure out how to lay the Port side passenger seat down. The back to back seat? I can get one of the half to move but not the front half. Thank you for any help you can give.

Great question, I have never tried to put mine down. I will check and let you know if I have any success.

Two plastic black knobs located in a lousy position inside up against the wall. Both must be loosened so both seats slide, then press the metal clips below the seats on the outside. Once they separate, slide both seats toward the stern so the front seat has some track to slide into. If the seats are too far forward the front seat can't flatten out. If they were not done in a long time the grease might have dried up and is preventing them from sliding.

FYI, the reason for the black knobs and metal latch... When the seat is in the UP position, both knobs can be loosened and the entire seat can be slid forward or back. Also, don't crank down on the knobs - just a little tension is all they need to keep the seat in place.

99SS... did you get your electrical issues sorted out? 12V is a lot like 120V, one of the big differences being 12V loses amperage over distance (the whole Edison vs Tesla debate).

Thank you for this and yes it all works now. Electrical and seats. I probably do need to grease them as the stern seat was hard to move. Not to mention judging by the dirt between the seat and back....they may have never been put in the laying position. Also one of the knobs is broke so I will look into replacing it. They joys of boat ownership far out weight the negatives.

You really only need one knob to keep the seats in position.

A couple years old but this is the only post I could Find that may have an answer..

Do any of y’all know how they managed to wire the 6 speakers into a radio with only 4 ports. My (original) clarion m5170 recently started giving me problems.. Under the console I can Only find labels and enough wires for the 2 cabin speakers, the 2 in the cockpit area (port and starboard sides). The rear speaker wires are no where to be found. My original thought was that the cockpit and rear speakers were spliced together and run into one, but it now doesn’t make sense because I have gotten the cockpit speakers to work but not the rears. And yes before you ask I have tried speakers I know work in those places. It seems to be a wiring issue but I have no clue where to find those wires? Anyone that can help?
