2018 260DA Dinghy mounting

IMG_3570.JPG
With my 2006 260 DA, I had a 8.5' RIB with aluminum bottom, and a 6hp Suzuki.
The aforementioned 'Dinghy sling' is awesome.
I did however need to add a set of stern cleats. Up higher to fully secure the load.
I can't stress enough what a great set up that was.
As a matter of fact, I plan on using it on my 09 330 this year.

I'm looking forward to using the dinghy sling myself without having to mount davits on my swim platform. I love the blue color.

Whats the price? Did you have any issues with the sling why you are selling it? Thanks.

Hah...if you read page 1 of this thread you'll see my unfiltered review of the sling. I believe the sling to be potentially well-suited for the higher swim platforms such as the one pictured above. For a lower platform, closer to the water, the sling provides absolutely no utility you cannot more easily obtain from two or three standard 1/2" dock lines.

Even on the higher up platforms, such as Nick70's, there isn't any real value being added by the sling in the pictured configuration. The platform is supporting the dink and the captain had to lift it up there. Two ropes would easily secure that dinghy in place at a fraction of the cost of the sling and with a far, far easier loading process.

But hey...whatever floats your boat. I wanted the sling to support my dink off the back of my platform. Once I confirmed that wasn't happening for me the sling became a fun story to tell.

These things are $275 new. I'd happily sell my "mint condition, barely used" white rig for $150.

Thank you, I appreciate your honest review and it now has we wavering my decision to possibly going with a davit system.

I've wondered the same thing steee6043 said...if a couple lines wouldn't do the same job.
I really don't think so. The way the sling is cross sectioned spreads the load bearing. Also, it floats, making it easy to use.
It's purpose built.
Additionally, I didn't want to spend the money on an install and have hardware affixed to my swim platform, possible tripping hazard.
I see what he's saying but after a season with the sling, I'm really happy with it and more than happy to continue using it.
Definitely thumbs up.

If you decide on the Nautley DinghyRamp HD, I have a lightly used set of arms / rollers that I would be happy to sell. They were used about half a season on my 32, but we just upgraded to a 42 with a hydraulic swim platform, so I have no need for the davits any more.

I think we are going to try it for this season and see how it goes. The blue sling will match my canvas.

This is definitely one good thing about the sling - for the money it's definitely worth a shot. Real davits are pricey. For kicks I priced out a weaver setup and it was going to cost almost as much as my dinghy+outboard...

Mightychan, still have the dinghy ramp for sale? I’ll buy it!
