420 DA Thread

Does anyone know what this lower raised section is for? I keep getting water in there and the only way to get it out is the round access port on top. There are two weep holes at the front and rear of it which I tried caulking up (see the white blob), but I still got water in there! I see no way for water to get in there other than the two weep holes at the bottom (which I caulked), there are two weep holes at the top, and an inspection hole. Water doesn't get that deep in there, that it can come in from the top. Is there somewhere else it may be getting in that I failed to notice? Drives me insane because the water can't get out easily and it just sits in there to get rank.

Thanks!

We don't have the inspection port or any of the holes like that either. The part of the pic to those who posted earlier on top are the bow thruster batteries.

My only guess for the structure like it is is a dry flat place to stand between the mains. Otherwise every time you stepped in that area your feet would be trying to fold in half, and be wet!

Hi @radaron - do you happen to have a pic or information about your glove box key as well? Thanks!

Has anyone replaced the original tv/dvd player in the master stateroom with a flat screen on their 420? IF so, what size tv did you use, how did you mount it, and what did you do with the original compartment? I'm sure this has been discussed before but I couldn't find it with the search function.

Samsung 28 fits perfectly . Make sure its a smart TV so u can take advantage of everything . There is an access door on the stb side in the closet that backs the TV ,

Blue masking tape is your friend! Whenever you cut or modify finished wood tape over any area that will even be close to tools, it will not totally prevent scratches, but it provides a nice buffer. It also helps prevent chipout when cutting.

Hi @radaron - I took the lock/latch out of the glove box, and along with the Yale Y11 key blank, I took it to our local locksmith on Pacific Coast Highway. He was able to manually file down the blank to the right pin heights and get it to work! Now I have keys to the glove box!! (...and he only charged me $20). Thanks again!

Hi fellow 42/44 DA owners ... would somebody mind posting a photo of how they have the pegs / dish-ware set up in their upper galley cabinet? The PO didn't use the pegs / dowels and I am not sure how to best use them ...

Rob would you have a pic?....I measured and it seems the 28" might be too wide... Maybe our boats a different

email me Rob@firstrefrigeration.net Ill send u pics and measurements when I'm on the boat. The only thing that is tricky is the mount. The mounts I found suck!!!! They all have set screw on top that u cant access due to the design of the TV. The screw holds the tv side of the bracket to the wall side of the bracket. ( so it cant bounce off in seas )
