SPLASH 2018

Every time I drag out a buffer i get swirl marks....loaded up pads all over the place....and cussing. I am just doing sections by hand as time allows. May bust out the buffer for below the rub rail.

Well, Florida might be nice for year round boating, but you have to put up with the insects. My boat was covered in Love bugs about 10 minutes after anchoring at Passage Key.

Well, it did actually make it in to the water....

But we found our fixed dock to be 3 inches under water so we tied up across from the fuel dock.
Shortly after, the rains came so no in water pictures yet...

Dear Lord, I had almost forgotten about those things!
Man, can they make a mess of a windshield!

Went in on Friday. He came a little late, better late then never...I don't have any on the water with me

Let the summer begin! Finally slashed late last week just in time for Mother’s Day, turned out cold but sunny with low winds, fired up the engines and took a nice 1/2 ride to one of our favorite anchor spots to grill some steaks. Had to watch out for floating logs after the spring flooding. Nice Day when everything works and the beer is cold in the fridge.

We went down to the resort, and the bar by the pool was closed, there were thousands of bugs hanging out at the bar, they had to shut it down. We were able to order two bloody mary’s Inside, by the time I made it to the pool, each drink had a love bug in it! Due to weather on Monday, we decided to head back to st pete on Sunday, and turned out to be a great boating day (smooth flat seas), but not a pretty day (overcast )

That sucks!
Probably made worse this year with the late arrival of spring weather giving a lot of boaters a late start on prep.
I got lucky and the boatyard blocked mine up unobstructed by other boats so I’d be able to get in early. Kind of sucked prepping it with temps in the 30’s and 40’s with 3 layers of clothing on, but worth it in the end.
Was really happy about it when I saw that not many had even uncovered their boats until the third weekend in April because of the crappy weather. That makes it extra hard on the guys who are buried in the back.
Boatyard operator, who is a great guy, asked me if I was coming back next winter. I jokingly told him that if I got “my spot” (right next to his boat) again he could count on it.
Weather has been pretty crappy for boating, but with the TV and heat in the cabin and the fridge going, at least I have my waterfront hideout back again.

I've got a launch date, June 1. This pic is me coming in for haul out end of last September. In about 2 weeks things will be looking just like this only I'll be heading the opposite direction. I'm celebratin' early....can't help it.

That is a very nice boat !... Good luck

Does your marina have a deadline? Our Marina has a deadline of May 23rd. Then they move you to a holding spot and charge you a daily fee for storage and shoring fee

I think they do for holdovers but my situation was simply the fact that we had bad weather this spring and physically I was blocked by other boats. I am pretty sure one of those that was being moved to a holding area.

Regardless I got the call that I am in and will hopefully moving tomorrow to my home slip as they put us in a temporary slip.

That’s great! Now all we need is for the rain to stop, winds to die down, and temperatures to raise to Spring like conditions.

Great Lakes, Beacon Cove sent out an email saying May 17th deadline and then daily fee starts, but someone at the marina said that doesn't apply to members. Just winter storage boats only. Not sure if that's true or not. I hope I'm never still on the hard May 17th.;)

EZ, We have boats that haven't even been touched. One of them of course is in both my parking spots so I have nowhere to park the golf cart. Like my buddy says, "first world problems"

I don't understand, I'm itching after New Years Eve.

I have the exact same problem...taking up both my parking spots and no boats on either side .....just my luck though, so I know my world is normal and I am making it better for everyone else
