Considering upgrading my electronics package on my '06 340 Sportsman. Happy to hear any input from others on what thoughts might be on proposed direction, etc. Here is what I am thinking:

Current System

Mercury Marine Vessel View
Raymarine C80
Raymarine Radar
Raymarine DSM 300
Raymarine ST 6001
Raymarine SG2
Raymarine Rotary Rudder Sensor (M81105)
Raymarine Fluxgate Compass (81190)

Proposed Replacement System

Mercury Marine Vessel View (Remains)
Raymarine Axiom 9 RV (Delete C80, DSM 300)
Raymarine RV220 (Delete existing Transducer)
Raymarine Quantum 2 Q24D Radar (Delete Raymarine Radar)
Keep Entire Autopilot System Consisting of:
Raymarine ST 6001
Raymarine SG2
Raymarine Rotary Rudder Sensor (M81105)
Raymarine Fluxgate Compass (81190)

Any input is welcome. One other thing I am considering is replacing my Vessel View display with an Axiom 7. Is that feasible? What is needed to interface? What info would I lose altogether? My vessel View is just painfully slow.

I am in the process of a similar upgrade. Replacing my Raymarine SL70c and analog radar with a Axiom 9-RV and Quantum Radar. Will also be pulling my Garmin GPSMAP 4208 behind the steering wheel to add a Axiom 7. The units will be network via RayNet and NEMA2000. I am keeping my transducer Airmar P79 for this season and connect it up to the RV with a MM cable and adapter. The Quantum will also be hardwired for Ethernet and not wifi. I do not have a vessel view but plan on picking up engine data via a smartcraft to N2K gateway. I may miss some VV specifics but I also picked up the Rhinda software and connector to have full access when needed to engine troubleshooting data.

At this point most of my boating is inland so I have no need right now for the autohelm. BTW, did you catch the latest update of the lighthouse software supports Netflix and Spotify - just what I needed.

Well...a couple weeks went by and I expanded a bit. Thought I would upload a diagram to help out any others researching. Found awesome pricing...PM me if you are headed down the same or similar path. Also, had the folks at Sea Ray Parts send me two new panels, pre cut for the Axioms as I was not digging the butchered look of old panel with adapter plate, etc. Will post photos as I progress.

Kevin that sounds like a pretty solid plan. I wouldn't connect the current P79 with a mix and match. Just cut the end off and go direct with the raymarine end. Get the mix and match for the new one.

Not sure I understand you....what is the P79 you refer to?

I replied to KevinC's comment. The P79 is a very popular shoot thru hull transducer. Bob how did you make those diagrams?

@NickBOE - Based on your screen name I am guessing you work with BOE Marine. The MM cable and converter was what was suggested to me by Chris @ BOE. I am all for simplicity and not custom ordering. Can you provide me with more info on connecting the Ray end and where I would get it. Thanks!

-Kevin

Kevin if you already have the Garmin cable end and just need to go to Ray end you just cut it off and splice it. I'll get you a part number. If it's a new install, Chris and I both recommend the mix and match and raymarine end. I'm sure there was an error in translation.
