Calling all 360 DA owners

Hello to all my brothers & sisters! I was running the boat last summer at cruise and lost power on the port engine. Pulled everything back to idle for a few minutes then put it back on plane with no more issues for the summer. Was doing a sunset cocktail cruise a few weeks ago, had the boat on plane and same issue but this time the engine quit running and would not restart. All readings looked good prior to this happening. I did just top off the tanks from half full before the cruise. Not to bad putting her back in the slip on one engine but not something I would not want to do every day. The next day tried starting the port and it was still a no go. I'm thinking a fuel or ignition issue. I'll be back at the boat this Thursday with my mechanic, changing impellers for me because I am a far too large a human to get back to the impellers, lol. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

UGGGG CB, you don't want advice from my history last year. I'd have him check the oil on the dip stick and do a compression test. I hope the best for you brother, and please don't read my blog lol.

I had a similar experience.port engine went into guardian mode. Got it back to the dock and shut it off. It wouldn’t restart. It ended up being that I never tightened the battery terminal when I reconnected in the spring.

This is not right. Freezing rain, sleet, rain, more freezing rain. Cmon! Enough already! We're ready for spring!!!!

It was 70 her yesterday and we got to take her up river to get short hauled Monday morning MAN was that nice!! Now the early season work starts. And today its 39 and freezing rain!!

Did I read it here on Club Searay or was it Facebook about replacement actuator for the vent window (power vent?)? I can't seem to find it now, and mine has quit working completely. I did find the post about the replacement gasket for that window, as I was running thru some moderate swells with gusty wind Friday, I noticed that gasket is toast.

I've always been concerned about its failure, I haven't seen anything on a replacement though.

I don’t have the parts list available right now but you should be able to find it there. Then check on the internet or your dealer. I’ll check when I get to the parts manual and post it then.

Finally.....

Strange question.......
boats in the water, and running the heat (its still cold here), and I notice a "pulse" sound coming from the AC unit. The pump is working fine - there is a steady stream of water - and the fan is blowing constant air. The sound only comes on when the compressor is running - not when it is the fan only.
Now, I don't have any water in the water tank, so I'm not sure if it's resonating from the unit thru the empty tank. Or, am I just being to sensitive with launch jitters?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance....

I’m new to this forum and hope to secure our first boat yet this this season. We’ve been looking at 2003.5-2005 340s w/8.1s v drives and now, also seriously considering the 360DA with the same power package and model years. Any former 340 owners move-up to a 360? Did anyone have the same consideration before buying a 360? Should we hold out if we find a beauty? Why so much negative talk about the past marketing and sales of 360s and potential future resale issues? Does the forward berth slider configuration really make you feel cramped and claustrophobic? What’s the real story? Thanks for your insights!

I have not had a 340, but looked at many before we got our 360. The 360 is much better for our purposes. Part of what sold me on the 360 was the space in the engine room. Not nearly as cramped as a 340 with 8.1L twins. I didn't hear that the operating costs would be drastically different between similarly powered 340s and 360s. We don't close the forward berth slider, so can't comment on that one. We do appreciate the extra cabin space, and particularly the ability for me to stretch out in the mid-berth. It's significantly bigger than the 340 and fits all 6'1" of me. Additionally, the fact that the 360 hull became the 380 hull around 2007 reassured me that the hull design was sufficiently solid to give it a new production run. We're happy with our 2002 360. Good luck with your decision.

My wife and i originally decided on a 320DA. When we went for the final look and to schedule the survey we both decided it looked smaller every time we looked at it. We started to look for a 340 but never looked at any because i found two 360's to look at. Loved the boat and it seemed to be the perfect size. Had it a year now and we both love it. The forward birth does not seemed cramped at all with the door closed, and i am 6' 3". Definitely go the the 360 over the 340 (although i never looked at one) i don't think you will be disappointed. I have never heard any negative comments on the model and i definitely did a lot of research on it for the same concerns you are having. Good luck

I too, looked at 340s very closely before settling on my 360. I planned on (and have been) doing my own maintenance on my 360 and as Eric mentioned above there is more room. I am able to stand between the two engines and can actually walk to the rear of the engine room to clean out the sea strainers and quickly access the sea cocks.

The way the shower gets closed off by the circular door (batman shower) is also a bonus, you don't need to dry off the entire head after showering.

Two more considerations, I have two late teenage boys both over six foot tall, and neither one of them would be able to sleep on the salon couch on a 340 due to the way the bolsters are shaped. (They changed that on the later models.) On my 360, the couch is long enough. Believe it or not, the same vintage 410DA (diesel at least), the rear berth is less than six feet long.
Also, the 360 was built in the Merritt Island facility and they used many upgraded parts on the 360 vs 340 (stainless vs aluminum, larger diameter hand rails, etc).

As far as the resale thing, I believe it has to do with the 340 being the largest boat most rack storage companies can handle making the 360 the smallest boat that needs a wet slip. So for many people, if they are forced to wet slip, might bite off on a 380DA or 410DA.

Wow! Great info. Although I’m new here...and from what I’ve seen so far, this is why this forum is a great resource, to get this level of detail and honesty from real world experience. Thanks!

What do you all think of the 8.1s for this model...size of boat and overall design...including for all types of uses...short cruises and weekend overnighters to longer range trips etc. I’ve read and heard that the 8.1s for the 340DA are considered ideal by most. Obviously, this boat is bigger and heavier, so...?
