420/44 DB Owners Club

We took possession of our new to us 2005 420db and LOVE HER!! She came with a 2005 zodiac 11' tender (center console) powered with a 30hp Yamaha 4 stroke 2004. Our sea ray is equipped with a 800lb lift and cradle. We are concerned about there being too much weight for the bow while underway since the dink weight 440 and outboard 194 this puts us at 636 +- we are considering a smaller size ob (25 hp) but want to know if this type of dinghy is Hypalon or PVC (or maybe just sell the whole set up). Thoughts????

Hi, I had a similar issue, I wanted a good quality RIB, but wanted something lighter. I purchased the F-RIB (http://foldablerib.com/product/f-rib-330/) and it is fantastic, seats 4, it weighs 110lbs, great quality and has the added benefit of when I am not at the boat, I can fold it away under the cockpit canvas. For the motor I went with the ePropulsion (http://foldablerib.com/product/epropulsion-spirit-1-0/), I get between 3 and 5 hours of running around, lot's of charging options (including solar) and about 120lbs in weight, it stows away under the cockpit seat. I bought both from a company in Florida, Nautical ventures.

Part way through the first service on my ‘new to me’ 420, if you ever thought to scrimp on taking the aftercoolers off to clean them, look at these!

I assume when you say "...equipped with a 800lb lift and cradle..." you refer to SeaLift brand lift with a cradle.

I have a SeaLift with a cradle (rated for 900LBs for our boat, with max rated specs of 1200LBs for the lift in general) and carry AB 11DLX Nautilus with 40hp, fully loaded pushing 850LBs. Even though the mothership does "feel" the extra weight, it's still does a good job carrying it.

Your biggest challenge is making sure that the dinghy is TIGHTLY SECURED, otherwise if caught in rough seas, you might be in a unpleasant situation compromising the lift and losing the dink. I always use 6 straps (each rated for 750lbs) and have installed custom made SS "safety locks". At some point, my system was "tested" on a 200NM run having 6'ers, short interval chop, right on the nose.

Hello All :)

This winter I went form a 04 420 Sundancer to a 05 420 Sedan Bridge from Johnny on the forum here for the extra space for the family. I hope we like how it handles in the water as we travel ALOT.

I was reading through this thread and also the thread from Alex about adding heat/AC up in the bridge. Has anybody else done this and if so how did it go? In his thread I can not see any of the pictures he posted and not sure why??

Boats going in next Thursday and we can't wait :)))

Congrats on the purchase!

I got your PM and need to look for the pics and my list on another laptop. At this point most of the pics are gone ever since photobucket went away from free service.

Alex, I was able to download the pics from Photobucket that I wanted to recover. But it's a slow one by one process.

Bill,

I only used the photobucket to share compressed version of pics with the group. My internal library is the actual source of all of them, so I don't need to download anything. It's a shame PB did this, as it totally messed up such a great library we had in CSR. But, from business point of view, I totally understand their reasons for doing it.

What's site are you using now to share the pics for the forum?

I had never seen this setup on a 420/44DB before. I am in the process of figuring out what to do about a swim platform for my 380FL w/ 40HP Yamaha (~750lbs dry). Maybe this is another option.

I would have been concerned about the mount point of the lift...

Congratulations on the purchase, by the way!

Alex, I think JoAna actually has a crane that lifts the dinghy onto a cradle on the bow...

Any chance you could email them to me?

I'm just paying for the Gold membership here and uploading direct to this site now.

Can someone please tell me how to access the master bedroom speakers. Don’t want to break the covers and not sure how they come off.

Also does anybody know the other 420/440 DB Thread? I saw it in here but don't want to go through 55 pages again :))))
