I know there have been a couple of discussions about replacing the Sea ray switchpads and swapping over the woodgrain covers from the originals. The pads that I am talking about are similar to the photos I attached (these are similar to my pads).

I am looking to see if anyone that has done would be interested in getting rid of the black ones. My current switchpads work but my covers are cracking and I would like to replace. I already found the starboard one so would be more interested in the port side - but open to all.

If you have them and want to get rid of them - please reach out to me - if you happen to also still have the dead pad I would be interested in that too only to tear it apart to see whats inside.

Thanks in advance.

Just an FYI... you can paint those plastic covers.

Yes - Thank you. That's exactly why I am looking for anyone that has the black ones and does not need them. My wood grain covers are peeling and cracked.

Do you feel like a DYI? You could sand them, use high-build primer or marine bondo to fill and smooth any irregularities. Then either paint or viny wrap -- which can have many, many patterns... lot's of wood-grain... carbon fiber... gloss or matte... the sky is pretty much the limit with vinyl wrapping nowadays. I've never personally done any wrapping but I've seen some pretty amazing things done with it. Would be a fun little project! I painted my gauge panels as they were fading and figured it would just be a temporary thing... and that "temporary" turned into "permanent"! :)

No they are cracked - as in a piece of the ring in the picture broke off :( Otherwise I would have tried something. With just the peeling I was thinking of sand, prep and hydro-dipping and then hitting with automotive clear coat.

I am about to replace other panels because of new electronics and was considering modernizing the look across all the panels. Until I have new covers for the switch pad I will probably just cut a black abs panel to fit

The wrap idea was also being floated. I was looking at the 3m Di-noc product which looked really nice with a lot of options. Did not know how easy it would have been to work on something with as many curves as openings in a small space. I saw some video related to updating auto interiors and it looked cool.

Oh, I got you, know. I was thinking "cracked" as in just the top layer (woodgrain) was cracked. I didn't realize you actually meant "broken". Still fixable, but that certainly becomes a little bigger project.

As you "design" your new look... just to throw out an idea... your gauge panel "could" be a different color/texture than the lower panels. I've seen that done and it looks very good. But, it's just an idea - in case you hadn't already thought of it.

Too bad your dash doesn't really support it with it's shape, otherwise this would be a good opportunity to convert to nice, aluminum, toggle switches.

Well, if my EIM ever dies (and lets hope not) I would fab up panels with those new modern flush stainless switches that have the led ring. I would wire them back to a relay box. Not something I would want to do though but would add a modern look.

There's not a lot of surface area in the ring to try to reattach. So, if I don't come up with both covers it will probably be wood grain up top and black on the lower panels and switch pads. I can always spray one cover black to match the other.

Ideally I think I would like a carbon fiber or dark brush metal look.

Just a note to other readers - despite the banter above regarding designs and patterns - I am looking for the covers.

Maybe we should stop talking about the "fun" stuff... :)

Nope - this takes my mind of the fact the are forecasting another possible nor'easter for us next week. I really just want a 7-day forecast without snow to pull my shrink wrap now.

Another storm? I didn't hear about that, yet. Well, at least it should extend my ski season. Trying to stay positive!

We're just coming off hockey season for the kids (although we play casually year round). Last big tourney was up in Jamestown during one of the nor'easters. As Hockey winds down boating gears up. LAX has already kicked in but that's not too bad. Just time to start working on the boat and stop shovel snow.

There was a vendor up from Florida I’ve seen at the boat show a few times that makes replacement panels. I can’t remember the name. I spoke with him about replacement panels on my old boat.
It was a couple of years ago, but I think by searching the Internet I was able to find another company that does the same thing that was located somewhere in the Carolinas.
I spoke to them on the phone back then and they suggested the best thing to do was to send them my old panels so they could match and label, them perfectly.
That might be a better option than buying somebody’s old ones.
There is also a marine plastics guy off of Otis St. in West Babylon. I know he makes a lot of stuff up, not sure he can make what you want, but it might be worth a shot to get some ideas since he’s local.

I think your referring to technographics - not sure if the make the covers or not - I know the make the sea ray dash panels. I spoke to them last year and I know I can send them the panels/covers and they can repaint them for you.

Since these covers are so curved and intricate how they are formed I would think they are injection molded with the back screw studs. Its also possible they are vacuum molded but in either case it would require a die to be made which adds substantial $$.

I am still looking for these. If you have them laying around from an old replacement please consider helping. Thanks.

More snow predicted for tomorrow too Kevin........ Boating season still seems so far away!

Still looking - I found a starboard side cover but still looking for a port side cover. If you have one - even if it's wood or still on a dead panel that you replaced I would be interested.

-Kevin

Bump... still looking... if you have a port side switch pad - dead or alive - with a cover black or original or just a cover I am interested. I really am just looking for the cover to replace mine.
