Rattling in the engine room

So I wanted to start another thread for this. On my 78 srv260 it has a rattle in the transom sounds like a knock or like marbles rolling around out of gear in gear rev up it gets faster at one point in gear it went away.turning left or right it sounds the same trim up and down it's the same. Defiantly not the engine though I held a scope on it and nothing.

Gumball bearing or a u joint I'm kinda hoping u joint ??? Any thoughts before I tear into it thanks alot
 
Outdrive oil monitor full?

Is this in the same drive you could not engage the gears from your other thread?

Lets hope nothing severe is wrong with it.

No thankfully it's the port side drive with the rattle the starboard side won't engage lol go figure !!
 
I'm 97% sure its your gimbal bearing. Pull your outdrive and spin it (the bearing) with your fingers and I bet you it will feel like its full of sand in there.
