A few weeks ago I got an audible alarm from smartccraft saying trim fault. Silenced the alarm and it has not come back. Today while running through some slop I noticed my starboard trim pop up screen appearing and it was increasing trim position. The analog gauge was also moving. I don't think the drive was physically trimming up since the running attitude of the bottom was normal and the engines were synced at around the same rpm. If the drive were trimmed up to position 3 I would have noticed severe cavitation from that drive since my boat seems to only run well with the drives tucked in.

Anyways, what are we thinking here? Trim limit sensors on the drive? Something that can wait until fall haul out?

I do not know if yours is the same setup but I have had a similar issue with my port side trim indicator on a 2005 BIII. It would often swing around an set off alarms.

When I hauled out for a bottom clean I took off the cap and installed a new interior potentiometer plate, it has worked fine since tho I do need to complete a calibration.

If you have to get the whole trim position unit replaced it is a PIA - hopefully you can correct it with a new trim plate inside it.

Had the same issue. Change the rotary plate inside and it will likely be corrected. $15 fix.

The insulation on the wires rot and cause the same issue, give that a good look over

WOW, I did, t know you could order just that part. always thought you had to get the whole sender and then pull the drive and fish wires though the transom.

Just ordered one four our boat. Amazon had it in stock!

I just unplugged mine (inside the boat at the back of the motor) my drives need to stay tucked all the way in too, otherwise they cavitate....
