First boat I named First Attempt figured it would keep people away from me on the lake the second was Second Attempt third boat was Her Choice. When we got the 310 it was already named Presidential with a large gold and red presidential seal that looked like the Seagram crown and number seven in the middle with presidential wrote around the top and the port of call around the bottom. Now my 310 is a fine boat not small by any means but Presidential I thought it was a little over the top for a 310 I could see it on a 540. Removed the decals last seasons Sure was glad to see that seal gone.Renaming her No Prerogative this spring.

Don't forget to do the official ceremony to ward off the bad ju-ju from Neptune....the God of the Sea. http://www.boatnames.com.au/boat-naming-renaming-ceremony.htm#Renamingceremony

This is a dangerous thread. Darn tootin' if we start trotting out bad boat names, someone will get offended (not that I care so much). Come to think of it, wouldn't "Darn tootin'" be a cool boat name?

Anyways, I see SO many tired cliches and puns that aren't nearly as unique or clever as the owners might think.

On my worst boat names list:

Fore Play

(Note: I may come back and add more later as I think of them.)

My last boat "Knot Working" lived up to her name all summer long. Cant tell you how many times I heard the same joke from everyone... "Should have named it Working" HAHA:mad:

Years ago I had a friend with two boys, Tommy and Andy, he named his boat T & A, never did figure out why people looked twice at that.
Two other friends who I though had great boat names:
- Randy, who was always in hot water with his wife had a 300 Weekend named "The Dawg House".
- Bill, who was a recently divorced mortgage officer had a 300DA named "Loan$um"

- Then there was the Marquis on Lake Norman that ran onto a shoal on St Patrick's day, it was appropriately named "ShamRockin".

I like to see the different boat names. They generally tell a little story about the owner.

First boat as an adult was a Bayliner 245 that came with the name "Unbelievable" complete with horrible font. I soon came to learn that is was "Unbelievable" that we bought that boat as it was riddled with issues. Every couple of weeks another problem would pop up and with every problem the word "Unbelievable" would be uttered from my mouth. So the name was fitting. After one season, we put over $15k in work into it including a complete upper engine rebuild, and then promptly sold it for $7k less than we paid for it. Guy who bought it from me got a great boat at a fantastic deal after everything we put into it though. We just wanted it GONE. I did end up removing the name as I thought it would deter potential buyers. I wonder what he named it.

Former marina, a sail boat not in the greatest shape had the name
"Hopi No Leaky"

How bout "Master Baiter". I threw that one past the wife years ago when I had my 230 weekender set up for fishing. Needless to say, she did not approve!
I settled on "Un-D- Sided", as we could not agree on a name.

By far the worst boat name ever was proposed here (or maybe SRO). "My Dixie Wrecked"

He was convinced it was clever. Is there a person in the world who wouldn't give that an eye-roll?

It for sure is no "Sofa King Fast" (which adorns a 50' Cary in Ohio).

Not sure it's a "bad" name, but certainly a little different. When we were in Michigan we took a dinghy ride up one of the rivers and while exploring one of the many marinas along the way, we came across an old wooden cruiser named
Mourning Wood

I saw a vessel "Running Nuts" with a couple images of Mr. Peanut on the run.

From our marina:
Wet Spot
Carpe Dieme --- I think there are 5 in our marina. How to ensure your boat name is the same as a huge number of other boaters

A friend named his boat “Dirty Oar”. He thinks it’s kind of clever, I think it’s kind of weird when he has his wife and daughter on the boat.
Names I see all the time:
Sea Nile
Happy Ours (old owners had that name on my boat).
Reel Axin (any version or spelling of it)
Patty Ann (Never knew so many women had that name).
Summer Place
Knot A Clue

Doing boat names and graphics since the late 80's I have done my share of bad names but the customer gets always get what they want.

One that was really hard for me to do was a lady that just got divorced and she got the boat and wanted it named " Was His " and another memorable one was an older guy that just put super chargers on his boat and we lettered it " Just got Blown ". And I think I have done at least 3 " Fa Q 2 "

Now are current boat I am not completely sold on the name but my daughter named it Total Relaxation.. She got the idea from our Baja that I named when I bought it in 89 and still have it which is named Total Insanity.
