Calling all 360 DA owners

Hey everyone! Coming from a Mako 212!

Just did a survey yesterday on a 2003 360 with 8.1s. Owner did not run the boat much in the past 18 months. Passing 3500rpm the port engine started making a popping sound. Temps never got above 165 on either engine. Surveyor thinks it is a fuel issue, potentially bad gas from sitting in the tanks forever. Anyone ever experience this? Owner is having his mechanic diagnose today.

Risers were replaced but not the manifolds. About 800hrs on the engines. Lots of neglected minor items, lights, etc.

Coming from my Mako this thing is a beast but it awesome!

Welcome rhyme and reason. The 360 is a great boat. I have had several people over the years comment on it being the perfect size. I just went through an engine rebuild. The elbows on the 8.1s are stainless and rarely need replaced. The general opinion on the manifolds is they last about 5 years in salt water. If it’s only been in freshwater they could last many years longer. If you are in doubt, have the pressure tested. It costs about $40 each.

Curious what you paid Seadawg?
I don't have all my numbers handy, so I will estimate. Soda blasting was 1400, haul out / launch storage on the hard was 600ish. Paint (micron 66) / primer (interprotect 2000) and fancy coating on the running gear and trim tabs was 3000 (including labor). Rumor is in our location if the diver does not have a heavy hand this could last four season! I hope so at that price!

Does sound like a possble fuel problem. Could be as simple as changing the filters. You probably have it backwards about the manifold and risers. Like Plasma said, the elbows are stainless and should last indefinitely. The manifolds about 5 years

Welcome Mr. Reasons.
These 8.1 are know to be a little hard on plugs and wires. If I already owned that boat, it would be the first parts I would throw at it. Many times the symptoms of bad spark is a rattle like sound coming from the transmissions while moving at idle speeds.

My engines tend to run @ 165ish in cooler water and about 170 in the summer.

18 months is a long time to both leave the gas sit AND leave the motors sit.

I've had my 360 for almost a year now and still love this boat. The 360 was the smallest boat assembled at the Merritt Island yacht facility and because of that there are many upgrades that may go unnoticed. Stainless where the 340DA would have polished aluminum, and things of that nature. In the 360 you can actually stand between the engines, which suits me fine because I do a fair amount of maintenance myself.

P.S. Did I mention the Batman shower?

P.P.S. My most recent boating experience was an 18 foot bow rider, so I understand what you mean when you say 'beast', but she actually handles very well around the dock. I have to contend with narrow fairways and fairly strong cross-fairway tidal currents while docking and she makes me look good!

Thanks Seadawg for the info. I paid $6900 for blasting stripping, sanding, a bit of repair and new paint. I am happy with the result. I’m sure I won’t have to do it again for the time I own the boat

New member here so go easy. haha
I've been searching for a 360 Aft Cabin (1986 here) Forum around Club Sea Ray but this is the closest I can find.

1. Can anybody point me towards a forum more appropriate to Sea Ray 360 Aft circ. 1986-87 (or for that matter, ANY Sea Ray 360 Aft Cabin).
Waiting for the survey on a 1986 Sea Ray 360 Aft Cabin; if anybody has thoughts or advice, I'm all ears. (I am more interested in specific Sea Ray 360 problems, issues, etc; I'm pretty tuned in to what to look for in old boats for the most part).

2. Does anyone recognize the gray band from Port to Starboard on the bottom? Is it standard, or does it look like a repair?
THANKS!!

I would think that there is thread somewhere on the forum.

Had anyone replace the T&P valve on the hot water heater? We just dewinterized last week and spent 1 night on the boat. The valve appears to be leaking some water overboard periodically. I replaced the valve on my previous boat, but access may be a challenge under the mid berth seat on the 360.

Thanks everyone! The owner took the boat into the shop right after the sea trial to fix the engine issue and some other seaworthy items. I’ll post the results. I’m getting pumped! The 360 looks like an amazing boat

YES IT IS!!! You will love it, just big enough to spread out and still be nimble with the 8.1's

NICE!!! I'm planning on the same time frame.

And now the list.... bottom stripped and painted, starboard engine bored and rebuilt, hull and deck buffed and polished, power steering pump replaced, port engine serviced, new Raymarine electronics package, new canvas, installed long range WiFi antenna and added boat WiFi. AC rebuilt, freezer fixed, 2 flat panel TVs with FireTV added..... This has officially been a huge project!

Does anyone know if the duck bill valves are (1.5" or 2)on the 360DA vacuflush? I would like to order some before I return to the boat and have a chance to measure.

Sorry Jeff I don't remember what size they are.

The Shrink Wrap came off today!!!!!!
