Official 380 Thread

I have a 1999 380 with 7.4's and the exhaust looks like the above pictures. I'm on my 3rd season with the boat and no problems. I have had the compression done twice and all cylinders within 10 lbs. Should I look into having the mufflers changed out?

Tough call. It’s a roll of the dice from what I understand. It will be an expensive problem if your motors ingest water.
It’s been a while since I looked into it but if you google the water ingestion problems on that era Sea Rays you’ll get better info that might help the decision.
It was different for me because I was at the “shopping for a boat stage” when I learned about the issue so I decided to keep my search to the 03/04 model years to make sure that I got 8.1’s with the water lift mufflers.

I have looked into the fix a bit and it is not that expensive to do. Especially if you do it yourself

I have decided to not go through another year with my BLACK camper top. I love the camper top and the screens, but I hate the black. I'm sure some of you have done this replacement. What do I need to budget for this to be done? Does $7500 sound right?
Thanks, guys and pray for warm.

Still shopping for a 380... looking at a 2001. The boat does not have the windshield washer system. Not sure if that was even available for a 2001, but was looking forward to having it. Does anyone know what would be involved in adding it? What does the system consist of besides wiper arms, some sort of fittings adjacent to the wiper arms, a switch and ??? Could it be done relatively easily?

I am replacing my original port/starboard running lights and need to access the wiring in the forward berth. Any recommendations on what/how to dismantle the berth overhead area to access the wire runs? Thanks

I guess this what you'd need. You could tap into the fresh water system (that's how SR did it) but this might be easier, if you can find a place to put the reservoir bottle.

FYI, there is a TON of space inside the gunwale if you remove the storage cubby to your right at the helm. Take out all the screws and it pulls right out. You can fit a little person in there.

So has anyone put trim tab indicators on their boat ??? (Something like this attached) so you know where your tabs are. I used to

Yes, this would be easier, but needing to be refilled on a regular basis would require removal of the storage cubby you describe. I was wondering how Sea Ray did it for the newer versions. Some sort of solenoid shutoff valve or something located in the galley? BTW, does your 380 have washers?
