I need to add some illumination for the platform and areas aft of the cockpit of my Sedan Bridge. There is simply not enough lighting to safely get on and off the boat at night and also would like some illumination aft when backing into my slip. I'm thinking of installing a LED flood light (500 to 1000 lumens) on the bridge roof and light up the back areas. Marinebeam has some offerings but before I pull any triggers thought I'd ask if anyone else has done this and their recommendations.

A good quality set of automotive driving lights will work just fine. A lot less expensive,

We have 2 Lumitec Capera spreader lights they are low profile very. Very bright they even come in wh/blue combo now. You don’t notice them until they light up the dock!,,,

Perfect, thanks!
Can you see through the back isinglass from the helm with them on?

Tom, I have them at an angle pointed out and down as not to have them shine on the glass and they are obviously above your sight line being mounted on the hardtop not under it. They are really effective

I went a different direction. I bought a pair of automotive driving lights and mounted those on the back end of the arch. I didn't need something with a ton of lumens/candlepower just to reach from the boat to the dock and wanted a flood pattern, not a spotlight pattern. I didn't think LED lights were necessary because current draw was not an issue--they were only going to be on for a few minutes as I backed into the slip. They have all plastic cases and mounting hardware except for the stainless bolts on the light adjustment part and the stainless screws to mount them to the arch.

Did you pull the trigger on the spreader lights? I was thinking of mounting one or two of them at the Lower Cockpit ceiling level.
I believe Jeremy mounted his there so hopefully he will weigh in as well...

I bought them but haven't installed yet. Started having issues with the Raymarine radar; got that fixed, then the boat was involved in a lightning strike and finished getting all that fixed last Nov/Dec. Too many other priorities to get on it..... This fall.

I mounted a Rigid industries flood light next to the stern light on the back of the bridge deck overhang. It is wired to a switch in the bank of swtiches just inside the slider to the left. It is very bright which is great for Lighting up the swim platform at night when we are
Loading the dingy on the platform or activities like that. You can see it in this pic.

I have to say I prefer them mounted up high out of the way you never see them and if mounted low I’d have to install 2 as the light bar is not centered and it bothers me. When mounted low and your putting the dinghy on/off the platform wouldn’t you create your own shadow by blocking the light?
