2005 280 sea ray Sundancer. Twin 5.0 with Kohler generator with Triaxle 2013 yacht club trailer with
Engines
Twin 5.0 Mercruiser
Currently own a 2005 280 sea ray sundancer with twin 5.0 and boat is pretty much loaded with every available option with: air/heat/generator triple axle trailer etc Wife has been on me to down size so that we can take kids skiing, tubing, etc and start going to different bodies of water rather than just sticking to the river. We currently keep the 280 docked in the river but have options on boating in Lake Erie, kinzuae reservoir as well as other lakes in the area to explore. We are basically missing out being not being able to trailer and not having to get a permit for the 9'5" beam each time. 280 is a nice boat but heavy and big and wide.

We have found a brand new 2016 240 sundeck with 6.2 bravo III that we are thinking about trading it in under that has tandem trailer. Boat is left over brand new and never been titled with the mocha interior and gray haul.

Does anyone out there have a 2016 sundeck and if so can you give me any recommendations to ask or to things to stay away from this model? We are supposed to sign papers Saturday but more I think about it is that there has to be a reason no one has bought this boat for two years. I want to make sure we make best decision possible. Our kids are 4 and 8. With so many things they have going on with sports, school etc we don't spend a lot of nights on the boat the past few years.

Any recommendations let me know.

Thanks
Mike

We did a similar thing going from a 32 Rinker (similar to a 32 SunDancer) with young kids. Went to 240 SunDeck and were very happy with our choice. Kids love sitting up front and the versatility of the SunDeck. We ski, tube and pretty everything else imaginable. Loved the size of the 32 but the cabin was a waste for us. Admittedly I moved up to a 270 SunDeck because the size was better for us and the friends, etc.

My only comment, is the depreciation on newish boats is super steep. I find the 04-06 SunDecks to be the best deals out there. An 04-05 270 can be had for under 30k. However, having a brand-new boat would be awesome!

You'll love the single engine and low upkeep of the SunDeck boats. I was constantly watching the fuel gauge with the twin 5.0s and a generator.

If you poke around you'll find a guy on this board considering a move from a 240 sundeck to a 280 DA. Make a swap!

They are offering a 5 year warranty as well with the new 16 but hopefully with sea ray being up for sale doesn't turn bad. Peace of mine is nice.

Your warranty will be fine im sure
My dad has 2006 240 sundeck and it has been a great boat! Holds a ton of kids and is great for tubing etc. He,s had zero issues with it and just has the marina change the engine oil etc
Btw what is the dealer offering on your trade?
If you don't trade it in pm me the details as I would be interested
Good luck!
Scott
