Best Knot to Permanently Tie to Piling

I have 2.5 times the lines I need to secure my boat. I leave all my home slip lines in place when I leave for fast efficient tie up upon return. All of them are set for proper clearance off the pier and I have a second stern line foe easy on and off when at the boat. I then have a full set for travel as well as a backup of every length line I use.

For the front pilings, we go around the piling and loop through the eye, leaving the bitter end on the cleat. That way you can easily adjust for storm surges or extreme low tides (which you will get on the bay) from the boat. You can just make a mark with tape or whatever so you know where to tie it each time. I'd say the majority of the boats at our marina are tied this way. Stern and spring lines we use the eye end on the boat cleat but they are much easier to adjust from the dock if needed.

Definitely use hooks on the pilings, you do not want lines in the water.
