So I was a good owner and put my key sets on floats. Unfortunately the little chain was a weak link and one popped and one of the two key sets went to the bottom. Didn't have a magnet to try to find, so down to one key set.

Is this a key that can be reproduced easily at a local hardware store or do I need to look in more exotic places?

Get the key number and you can order one online. It not a typical key for a store to have but easily found online.

My local locksmith has been able to cut keys for me with no problems. They work perfect.

Always keep a complete set of spare keys in a secure place, not on the boat but accessible within 24-48 hours.

If you don't have a Sea Ray dealer close by call up to Erwin Marine in Chattanooga..... they usually have most keys in stock or they can order one and have it with in a few days.

I discovered that locksmiths around the Fort Lauderdale area tend to stock a lot of the blanks needed for boat keys. You might try contacting a couple, sending a pic of your key. They might sell and ship a couple of blanks that your local locksmith could use to make more keys.

These are numbered keys. You can order them pre-cut based on the key number. I ordered mine from mysecuritypro.

Most marinas have a key locker where you can keep a spare set in the marina office.

Unfortunately, those were the spares!!! And I’m not sure they ware the originals, so I’ll, have to take a looks next time. Yes, there is a lockbox.

Check with a real professional locksmith before you go further.
Learning that they were uncommon and expensive, I ordered a batch of 10 from eBay for about $25.00 last year and then brought them to a local professional locksmith ( NOT to a hardware or home improvement store) to cut.
Figured for the savings on a larger purchase I could have one on each of my 4 keychains (lots of cars), copies for my wife and kids, and the usual emergency stash.
Turned out the locksmith had them hanging right there in his shop. He mentioned that the blanks were expensive. I asked him how much they would cost me, and it turned out they were about the same price as what I paid.

Thanks JVM. On the "critical" must do ASAP list.

If it is a Mobella key and has a number on it, simply order by that numbe.

Generics are $3.50 a key...

and Ilco has the profile, it T06, but not available at local hardware stores.

I guess I'll have to make a trip to a locksmith. I think I'll let my fingers do the walking.

None of the Hardware or Home Center stores around here had it either but the local locksmith had them.
