I am trying to connect a std 12v automotive USB charger to my Sea Ray 280 SLX dashboard port charger but cell phone not charging even though charger light is on. Is there a special marine charger?

Some 12V USB chargers simply don't meet the required amperage required of either iPhone or iPad. Check the specs on the USB outlet you installed.

I’d try another cable. Usually all are ok for a cell phone. You need at least two amps for an iPad, some battery cases and maybe a very big phone.

Thanks for information. I got a higher quality Belkin USB port from store and it worked fine. Got new cable as well. Thx.
