I saw our west MI weather forecast this AM and felt hope for the first time since October.

I also had a brief moment of panic this morning. It occurred to me that I haven't yet been out to my boat for it's annual hull clean/wax and I am running out of time to get that done. I store in a location that is only available during business hours, M-F, during the winter. It makes scheduling this annual event a bit more challenging.

I hope all of you northerners are enjoying the off-season. I count 7 +/- more weekends until launch...

Just posted in another thread but we're all over the place on south shore of lake Ontario lately. 54 yesterday, 34 and snowing today, 65 on Tuesday. I'm going to get a few of the things I normally do in march done over the next couple weeks so I can get a jump start on polishing and waxing as soon as the cover comes off.

I'll throw the drives back on next week, I have to gelcoat the bilge between the motors where I did a repair, put the exhaust back on both motors (took off for replacing remote oil filter hoses). They're quick jobs on their own but they'll add up, and I like to be one of the first in the water in the spring.

Launch day for me is March 28th!

Yep. 45 on Monday then two days of 55 and rain on Teus and Wed this week should get rid of the snow on the ground around Toronto area. Up north where the boat is it won't all melt, but it will give it a good start. Long range looks above freezing most days right into March when the warming up starts. Come on spring. Lets get on with it!

A friend of mine tells me that if i get everything done on the boat. that spring will be late. and if im behind than spring will come early. so i'm in the middle. so what does that mean?

It means that we would all appreciate it if you could quit working on your boat. That way you would get way behind and Spring could get here extra early. .....;);)

I managed to get mine waxed below the rubrail yesterday. I witnessed more trees than ice floating down the river. We'll need a few weeks to flush all the garbage down the river from all this rain. Been a crazy week...

All ice off of Kalamazoo Lake in Saugatuck this weekend and the river is clear. First boat of the season went in the slings on Friday! It was a work tug pusher so doesn't really count, but it's close. Marina neighbor is trying to get in next Monday. He lives on the boat as long as he can for the season. Usually in as soon as ice clears and out around December 15-20. I love it when he goes in as I know I am only a couple of weeks behind.

I flew over Lake Michigan yesterday, coming into Michigan just north of Holland, and there was nearly no ice to be found. A few floating chunks mid-lake and a bit by the beach but the ice is mostly long gone.

We're getting closer now. March 2nd....the clock is ticking.

Missed us in the Toronto area. Maybe 1 inch only and ground was warm enough that it melted mostly right away. Long range forecast looks "normal" though so the abnormally warm run seems to be over.

Yep, you were just north of it. Officially 18.4" in the town I live in just south of Buffalo. I've been putting off going out there to start cleaning up.

When it comes to Buffalo vs Toronto weather, being north is quite often a good thing.

crushed in rochester. We're up near the lake so about 8-10" and lots of drifting. South of us really got it

I was out in Grand Haven yesterday and saw my first boat of the year out on the water. It was a 19/20' open bow. Two guys out fishing.

They were bundled up but I couldn't help but think they were a bit crazy. That water must still be in the mid-30's.

Here's a couple of guys that might be rushing the open water season just a bit. Last Friday on Saginaw Bay.
