Hello, getting ready to purchase a 2005 550 sedan bridge. My first Sea Ray, have owned Regals and Carver in the past. Boat looks exceptionally clean and well taken care of. Getting ready for the survey and sea trial. Asking if other Sea Ray owners can give me a heads up on anything I should look for. The MAN motors just turned 1000 hours and I have the paper work showing the 1000 hour service was done. Thanks in advance for any help.

Can't help you with the boat questions but Welcome to CSR! That's an awesome boat, congratulations.

Welcome to the group. I think you answered your own question on the MAN's. The 1000 hour service is significant. I would say look through the owner's logs and look specifically for deferred maintenance items.

Welcome to the group! Let us know how it goes!

Best of luck, and welcome to CSR!

Welcome! I'm a big fan of the 550 2004 & 2005 Sea Rays (Dancer & Sedan Bridge).

Even though I'm land locked with no local MAN support I'm still very happy with my decision. I'm not sure if you have local MAN support wherever you plan to keep the boat (maybe Virginia Beach) but either way, the following may prove useful.

Performance Diesel (Webster, TX) is (maybe was) the master supplier of MAN engines to Sea Ray. They probably did the rigging of the boat you are considering. Lucas Stewart has been a great resource for me (pre & post purchase).

In addition, Tom DeMann of DeMann Marine Power (Wilmington, NC) has done well by me too (pre & post purchase). He did my 1000 hr service and provides great phone support as well.

Good luck with the sea trial and survey!

Thank you for all the "welcomes" and the information. Especially appreciate the name and contact information for advice and service. I will update the club as soon as the survey and sea trial is done, looking at mid March to be completed. Bob

Small world. I had Tom demann do the engine survey and some subsequent work before moving the boat out NC. This was the 47db we used to have.

Very happy with the work done.

I also had some items handled by the Marinemax in wrightsville beach. They were great, would go back there in a heartbeat.

Welcome aboard as we’re in KW now, Boat out of Deltaville, will be in Tidewater marina for five weeks starting the week before Memorial Day weekend. Hollar if and when you’re in the area.

Nobody in their right mind would buy a boat that big!

Just kidding. Can't wait to see the photos of your baby and welcome to CSR.

Didn't....happen....unless....there's....pics!
