has anyone jumped in on the 290 SDX twin OB? im thinking of trading my 280 Dancer as we dont spend the night on it that much. Criuse and stay at the marina hotels etc and lots of day stuff with the grand kids. Would enjoy exchanging ideas if anyone has one or is considering.

I evaluated it against the 270 sdx ob and picked the 270. The main reason is the dual OB adds a bunch of cost but didn’t add more room proportionally.

Great boat with tons of room and good performance with the upgraded motors.

i may need re think the 270. I go out in Chesapeake Bay a lot and 2 engines is appealing. The joy stick up grade is 30k by itself though!

I went from a 28’ cruiser to a Slx 270 like you are contemplating. Didn’t miss the cruiser at all. Decided I wanted a new boat with OB power. Evaluated the 290 and 270. Planning to move this one to a lift on Florida hence the OB.

I just bought a 290 SDX OB and I went down from a 2010 330 Sundancer.... Main reason was reliability of a new boat and reliability of outboards. My 330 was an absolute nightmare.

I also didn't want to sacrifice room going down from the 330 and felt the 270 was a little small. I love the fact that you have the twin rear lounger seats and have a boarding ladder along with a flip down swim step. Something else that was big for me was retaining twin motors... I didn't opt for the joystick as I just couldn't justify the price increase, and twin 225 motors should be more than enough. I paid $138k last fall for a loaded used 2017 with less than 15 hours and a brand new trailer, every option except joystick and 250's, so you can find deals out there.

We already have a bunch of trips planned out for this upcoming summer and instead of sleeping on the boat we will just stay in a hotel... More room anyways. I can't speak for how the boat handles because i've never run her haha, but ill report in after my maiden voyage. I can say that there is an enormous amount of room... FAR more deck space than my 330 and the fit and finish truly is very high quality. Seating material, hardware, gelcoat, everything is very well done.

thanks good to hear. i looked at 270 and 290 and am back to the 290OB. Looking at getting most all options except grill and off shore power. Cant see the need for 5 k for a grill and shore power that will run the battery down anyway. i feel better with twins . Haven't had a lot of luck finding a used one but hate to pay new prices. Im going to go with the joy stick but its a lot of $$.
now to sell my Dancer!
