Well I have to say I really like the look and flow of the new 2018 520 Sundancer. I think the super-structure lines have a natural flow and I like the hull-side window shape. The mid-master looks awesome (although I wonder why no sitting area to the Port). Cockpit layout, flexibility and size seems pretty unique and gives more outdoor space.

All very sporty but not too contrived.

I've been a big critic of the look of the 400 and 460 Sundancer and lack of outdoor space but maybe Sea Ray has some vision for the new models that'll speak to my taste after all.

I agree. Saw it first time at Fort Lauderdale, posted some of my observations about it - forget where...

Love that boat.

I like the looks of the new 580, but I am too old school to appreciate the big black check marks in the topsides. For some reason the new style is to cut these, and big windows into the side of the hull. I did not even like the little windows in the front of our 2000 380DA but I made myself get used to them. I know Sea Ray's are supposed to be "cocktail boats" (and all that) but this is a trend I wish they would not follow. The sunroof is uber cool, and I do love the ability to open up the back, but I am not a fan of sliding glass doors on boats. Whenever I see fru fru boat designs, I always think of the Kipling quote:

"This new ship here is fitted according to the reported increase of knowledge among mankind. Namely, she is cumbered end to end with bells and trumpets and clocks
and wires. It has been told to me she can call voices out of the air or the waters to con the ship while her crew sleep. But sleep though lightly. It has not yet been told to me that the sea has ceased to be the sea." -Rudyard Kipling

That said, if someone wanted to give me a new 400 or 460, I'd take it in a heartbeat ...and I'd be pretty damned happy about it. ;)
