i ordered a new 270 SDX with a 300 Verado. I have had IO boats for 30 years, wet slipped for the season. I believe with the outboard tilted up out of the water the boat will be in the channel too far since I back into my slip and will need to move the boat way forward. Can I leave the motor tilted down and in the water for the season like I have done with my alphas and B3's over the past 3 decades? Corrosion has never been an issue on any of my boats as long as I use magnesium anodes, and I can deal with the slime by cleaning the motor every few weeks.

I understand tilting out is better and the beauty of an OB, but I want to understand if there is a reason it can't stay in the water.

get a bigger slip - like you said, the beauty of the OB is not having to deal with the IO Bullshit......To your point, I'm sure it would be fine.......but why?

Like you're thinking, it's best if you can tilt it up. But if you can't, just keep doing your due diligence. FYI, the engines come shipped with Al anodes. Al may or may not be better for your area. If you had good luck with Mg on your B3, don't assume that Mg would be the best anode for the Verado since having only one prop could change the dynamics. Just keep your eye on it - with whichever anode composition you choose - until you get a comfort level with it.

Thanks for the input. Once the season starts I will take the boat to the slip and see if I can move it forward.
