I know there have been a few threads on this subject already so apologies if I am covering old ground but I need some advice please.

Want to change out old white Windlass footswitches on 2004 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer fitted with Lofrans Progress Windlass to stainless steel.

Questions I have:

1. Has anyone sourced stainless steel footswitch covers with same hole to hole dimensions as original switch covers? I have found some but only has 5 holes not 6 and not sure if they would fit.
2. If the footswitch cover is removed is the diaphragm switch a separate part or are they integrated like on some of the models I have seen?
3. The SR parts manual isn’t very conclusive but can anyone confirm that if I purchase complete new footswitches that I should order Heavy Duty type? I can see from electrical diagram that there is a 100 Amp Windlass breaker and separate 5 Amp breakers.

Any advice that can be given would be great including any retailers that you know with stainless steel foot switch covers/footswitches complete that match up with the SR design and hole pattern.

Many thanks,

Simon

1. Can't Help with stainless.
2. Yes, separate part from the actual housing and cover.
3. SKU = MAX-P19007 - Wholesale marine - Direct replacements, drop right in, same screw hole pattern.

I could be wrong but I think a member on here was producing the stainless switch covers at one time. It may have been Quint4, but again my memory is not what it used to be!

tagging onto this thread...

while a stainless cover would look nice I would be afraid it would bend out of shape if someone stepped on it.....

Can't help with info on the covers but can give you a tip, and don't ask how I know this....

When you pull the assembly up from the deck MAKE SURE you hang onto the wires if you undo them from the switch. If you don't they will fall back down into the hole and they will be JUST out of reach.

The admiral gave me a set for fathers day a couple of years ago. Happy, Happy, Happy. Not sure where she got them but they are stout. No chance of bending these.

Those look great! Any Chance you could find out where they came from?

She doesn't like when I create work for her but as long as I can blame it on you Josh, I will definitely ask.

Don't get into trouble for me!! I do love that bling though... I'll order those in a second, now if I can just splurge for the Ultra Anchor...

Ok, they are made by Maxwell p/n MAX-P100735. A friend found them for her at satpro.tv . Quite pricey at the time as this was the only place available back then. Now they even seem to be available from defender.com at a much cheaper price.

Tell her thanks so much. Mine are on the way. Amazon is my own enemy.

careful. Looks like they are suddenly out of stock everywhere (Defender, Maxwell, Amazon)

just ordered two....great idea. tired of the plastic hinge breaking and guests stepping accidentally on switch and engaging chain.

just want to update my prior post. I spoke with Maxwell and their switches are significantly larger then what my current boat, as well as my SeaRay, had installed. If you want an exact fit for the smaller switch cover go to the Quick USA online store to order....about $57 each. Available in white or black plastic with a stainless cover.
