I have a 1994 40' Express Cruiser that is getting water in the floor storage compartment in the cabin directly adjacent to the sink. It is not coming from any of the plumping inside the cabin. It is coming from somewhere outside only when it rains or I wash the boat. Seems to be runnng down the hull liner and then along the floor board to the storage space. Anyone experienced that condition. I am also afraid that I could have the similar condition on the starboard side, but the floor is sealed in that area and I cannot tell if water is in that section of the boat.

sounds like the windshield screws need to be rebeded.

I have the same boat but thankfully do not have the issue. My only guess as to the cause would be the cabin side windows. I am curious if you have seen any signs of water anywhere else, such as the cabinets above or below the sink or behind the refrigerator. Seeing any other signs of water may help identify the source.

Is this the compartment?

The water built accumulated between the hull and the bottom of this compartment. There is no obvious place it is entering my boat. That said, I am rebedding the hatches and portholes to eliminate them as a source. Additionally, I am adding two small bilge pumps to remove the water below the compartment.

It is interesting to note we both have 1994s.

WOW this sounds like the same thing I noticed but only one time on my 1994 400 in the floor compartment right under foot while standing at sink. I noticed near the end of this season vacuumed it out and it has not returned...yet. Please post any findings as I wonder if I will be dealing with this come spring!

This is the compartment below your feet as you stand at the sink on my boat. It is definitely coming in from somewhere and/or it has been accumulating there for some time and only recently risen to the level that leaks into the compartment. There is no place for the water to go.

My first priority was to remove the water from the space. The floor of that compartment is painted plywood. The underside of the floor is not painted and got soaked by the water filling up the space. I have positioned two small bilge pumps in the 4" drilled holes that feed into the shower sump. The reason for two pumps is that there is a divider below the floor that runs the length of the compartment.

With that under control, I'm now on to eliminating the possible leak points.

I have the same problem on my 94. I cannot figure out where it is coming from and it has only seemed to happen on 2 occasions. I vac it out and stays bone dry most of the time. If anyone ever finds the source, please post.

It turned out to be the porthole window seals in my case. They leaked water down to the inside hull of the boat and it accumulated there with no where to go.

There is a part of the fresh water system that is located in the cabinet behind the refrigerator that caused water to leak in the same place in our 98’ 400EC. It looks like a small version of the water expansion tank you might see that n a home but it’s made of lasting. Ours cracked and was dripping fresh water.
If you remove the refrigerator it’s to the right in the cabinet.

Yep, I had the same leak and replaced the expansion tank on my 400.
Viewing/servicing access is easy if you lift the stove-top, that’s only held in place with Velcro tape.
Push up from below by removing the first drawer.

Pulling the refrigerator is the best access but, not necessarily easiest.

Looks like this might be a real possibility for me too. All my seals and screens are shot. In fact I cannot even get the gaskets out in one piece. Problem now is that I cannot seem to find replacements anywhere unless I want to replace the entire port lights. That would not be my preference with 6 of them at over $200 a piece. Any advice on finding replacement gaskets?
