Good evening members,
I'm looking for suggestions/recommendations for the existing cabin lights. I'd like to switch them out to LED to conserve power when we are anchored out, and to eliminate cabin heat from the incandescent bulbs currently installed.
I've read a few things about it, some say change out the bulbs, others say change out the entire fixture. What have other members done regarding this?
As usual, Thanks in advance for your help.
Kevin

On my 420 I did alittle of both, i changed bulbs in the interior through superbright.com and then on the deck and hardtop i changed them over to lumitec multicolor and love them!

I didn't need to change fixtures, everyone accepted LED lights. Whichever way you go, you're on the right track.

I didn't change any fixtures either, just bulbs. I can't remember exact link for cabin and cockpit lights (Amazon) but for the navigation lights I used superbright.com. The lower cockpit lights I got green to match my underwater lights and left the arch lights white. It was definitely worth it.

No need to change fixtures. I changed out the bulbs to LED in my old boat about 4 or 5 years before I sold it, and then last summer in my current boat with no problems.
I got the bulbs for both boats from Amazon.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm going with the bulb replacement, the more I thought about it, the more I want to keep her original Sea Ray. Awesome site, lots of experience and sound advice here.

If you want to try to get as close to the color and glow of the original bulbs be sure to look for “warm white”. It will still be slightly brighter than the originals but will have the same color as opposed to the stark white or blue white of other LED bulbs.

Look for lights with 2700-3200K. that is "warm white" like discussed above. 6000K will be the "cool white" or blue white light...

Hi Kevin,

I concur with others on this thread. You don’t need to replace the fittings just change out the bulbs. I replaced all of mine in cabin including the bilge lights to LEDs, so much brighter. Also changed out all the cockpit lights to lights to Lumitec dual colour with built in bezel dimmers, they are awesome.

I bought my bulbs from amazon/super bright and Lumitec from Amazon. Easy to install. Also changed out cabin courtesy lights to stainless steel with blue lights, again from Amazon.

Bilge LEDs x 4 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHCS3CR/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Gu4 bulbs for all lights in cabin - they fit all lights, a little hard to fit in some fittings due to space but all ok

Lumitec blue/white dimmable cockpit lights x 5

Hope that helps,

All the best,

Simon

Thanks everyone for the recommendations and suggestions. I ordered replacement LED bulbs and just installed those, as we are wanting to keep the boat as original as possible by keeping the fixtures.
I appreciate everyone's input.
Kevin
