Boston Harbor boating

Mostly no wake, and it is enforced. Depending on traffic about an hour and a few. Low tide is longer, as is any delays at the Blynam bridge. We find its shorter time wise than going outside Cape Ann.

Thanks Henry. Where is a nice Sandy spot to anchor up river for a day of R&r. I have heard Wingersheek, back side of crane Etc. But I have also heard its easy to run aground and be there for a while if not mindful of the tides. We want to be able to dingy ashore and be on the beach for a while.

Wingarsheek is located on Ipswich Bay across from the Annisquam Yacht Club. It gets pretty crowded, so you will need a stern anchor. Most folks anchor stern to the beach.

We've haven't been to Back beach this year. If you want to go try it at high tide. The underwater landscape changes year to year. That being said there always seems to be a channel along the beach. As you enter the Essex River there will be a single Nun across from a Green Day Marker. As you pass the Nun you should be able to turn starboard to go in along the beach. As a side note, all of the moorings are private. Use one without permission at your peril. Even with permission, be prepared to be question by the neighbors and the Police boat.

Bumping an old thread.

I am new to the harbor and have my boat at marina bay. Im looking for nice areas to anchor and chill/swim for the day. The past couple of times i have anchored in the narrows, west of lovells and its been nice. Are there other areas i need to check out? I have a 410DA

Everyone migrates to Worlds End in Hingham. Other spots are the Back River in Weymouth. Both spots have warmer water but can get busy on nice weekend days. If you don't mind cooler water try going to Little Nahant Bay or the area between Peddocks and Rainsford Islands but can be bumpy on weekends.

Wanted to add a very good, and convenient park and dine restaurant in Boston. Pier 6. As you head in to the harbor, it's all the way, as far as you can go..right at your 12'oclock.
Constitution Marina is maybe a half mile to your south, then further would be the Charles river locks.
Good food, docks right at the restaurant.
