Destin Florida 450 DA

The real question is was the source of the water identified and corrected or has this boat been sitting with issues in the Fl sun. I’m hoping the listing dealer has corrected the problem. Personally I don’t see much long term concern if it was corrected and cleaned in the proper manner. The water intrusion has to be under the helm or at the helm chair because I believe they are thru bolted.

I really like the 450 and I have noticed they have 2 interior layouts for 1997 and this one has the single refrigerator with freezer on top and the others have both separate undercounter units. And most of all it has sexy upholstery in the master!
Good luck with the hunt!

You will love it. The camper is a huge plus.
Remember there is a huge wealth of knowledge/advise available on this forum when issues arise.
Just be diligent in your survey both mechanical and structural....!!
The 450 is not under powered with the 350hp engines so with 425hp it will be a bonus.

Thanks for the info and support. I'm doing my best to get as much info on this boat before I head to FL to look at it.

450's are fun !!!

LOL... They seem to have better options then the 410...

The photos on the listing were taken 03/2017 on someone's iPhone 6S so it looked like that in the beginning of the season, hopefully it's still in good shape!

Went through this with our 3126's earlier this year. FrankW is a great asset on the engines. If you are going to commit make sure you get a PAR from a CAT service center on the engines. It will be around $2000 but will give you all the performance aspects of the motors new vs where they stand today.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you..

I looked at this boat a couple months ago. Very noticeable water damage inside mid birth on ceiling.

I agree with this post, I was also in this boat shortly after it arrived at Legendary Marina. The sales person talked about how great of shape it was in for an old boat, and how strong the engines were. Statements like "It starts right up no matter how long it sits." We never fired up the engines, but the water damage inside and the smell was enough to make you not walk, but RUN away from this one. I wasn't impressed, but that's mostly due to my personal preference. 90's styling has never grabbed me, as I prefer the newer age of the mid to later 2000's models.

Drove to Destin last weekend from Texas, a total waste of time. The only plus to that trip was how beautiful Destin is.

We live about 1.5 hours drive from Destin, or less if traffic isn't too bad. We were not there to see the 450 DA, but the sales person insisted we see it. They had it in the water, was a new delivery. The wife and I were not impressed. No cares that it was sub 100K either.

I did a lot of long disappointing drives looking for a boat too. It can get discouraging, but hang in there. The right one will come along.
Hopefully you can get someone to do a preliminary look for you before you make the next long trip.
