Purchased a 2008 48DA. Splendide washer/dryer has power but doesn't wash or dry. Does anyone know how to remove it from the cabinet?

When you close the door, do you get the rapid blinking of the red light? The reason I ask is two of my dock mates could not get their Splendides to work by normally closing the door - they had to slam it EXTREMELY hard the first few times they used it to make it operate. Something to do with the door sensor and lack of use...

Thanks for the info. I get the steady red light indicating the door is closed and locked, but nothing happens after that.

The splendides are a piece of crap... you would be better off removing it and using the closet as a more storage space. We removed ours and never regretted it. Most marinas you will go to will have nice facilities for laundry. Just my .02

My steady red light is the power light, then when I close the door, I get a second rapidly blinking light for 5 seconds that then turns steady, and she then runs...

On a 42/44: To remove it you will need to remove the carpeted side panels on the port side, then the floor L-brackets & water hookups on the back (after turning the off the water at the manifold.) From there you need remove the door hydrologic closure.. Now the fun. Thing weighs a ton... You will need to get a strap under the unit to lift out (2 people.)
I had replaced the thermostat but in the end the Door trick worked for me as well as long as you have the dial on reset .. I do have to say that it does really come in handy for some small loads..

I appreciate all the info! I get the steady red power lighf and second steady red light after the door locks, but after that nothing in either the wash or dry cycle.

Sorry, I can't help you with removal instructions as requested. However, I'd like to offer one additional troubleshooting idea if I may... Have you checked your water distribution manifold to make sure that the washer cold and hot water supply valves are turned on? I believe that these units won't do anything if they don't sense a water supply.

Now as to usefulness... I can't tell you how much I depend on mine. I basically keep a very limited wardrobe onboard and just do a rotation of washing small loads every other day or so. It is so easy and convenient and I am not hauling loads of clothes back and forth to the boat every weekend. Sheets/towels/bedding go the bigger onshore facilities, but the daily loads of dish towels, undies, shirts etc. get done for basically the cost of the laundry pod I throw in the machine.

Thanks for that. I have checked the manifold and both Hot and cold water valves are turned on. I am going to disconnect the supply lines on the back of the machine to see if there are inlet screen that may be plugged.

Here’s a question? I don’t have one on my 48 and don’t care to wash but would love a small dryer for beach towels and shower towels on damp days. How hard would it be to add it if I did just a dryer?

Hi @JB MARSHALL . Happy New Year. I'm resurrecting an old thread......How did you go about removing the washer/dryer combo? Saws-all has been mentioned. What did you do?

Hi Jaybeaux,

Happy New Year! So you’re forgoing the washer dryer. Lol. We took it apart piece by piece until it was manageable to move out. Didn’t use a saws-all, but did use a hammer, crow bar and haxsaw. We had no intention of salvaging it. Good luck.

I just joined the group and enjoying all this chatting. I have a 400 sedan bridge. Washer /dryer gets used likely 4 times per season +1 more time when I winterrize (1000 islands area). I would use a dishwasher everyday. Has anyone ever thought of replacing the washer/dryer with a dishwasher. I'm guessing the water supply with would be addequate and the power as well. I'm thinking and easy swap...other than the difficult removal that was described by someone else. I welcome any thought on this....and how to convince the wife its a good idea....lol

@JB MARSHALL So I was at the boat yesterday and today. A dock mate and I began to look at this washer/dryer removal project. So we opened the cabinet, removed the "inspection plate" in the back above that little shelf. It gave access to the nuts on the underside of the second tread on the stairs. At that point, we were stumped. We couldn't see where anything came apart. The frame around the cabinet door looks to go up into the headliner. I mean, if you wanted to fix a leaky hot or cold water connection going to the W/D, well, good luck!

Any pearls of wisdom you care to share?

Hi Jaybeaux,

I honestly don’t remember the steps we took to remove it. We removed it back in 2015 and had no intention of saving it, so we destroyed it in the removal process. I had helpers for the process.

Did you try accessing the back from under neath the floor where the shower box is? I was able to reach the water lines and cut them from there, put plugs in them even though you shut them off from the manifold.

Sorry I am not able to give you more help/information on the process.

No idea how it comes out but if you tear it out please save connectors, harnesses, modules and pump parts. Would love to have some spares as we use ours all season.

I know this might not be what you want to hear, but I seriously think they built the boat around the washer/dryer. At least on mine I think they did. I was trying to run a new 110v circuit to one of my back bedrooms and needed access behind the washer. Tried and tried to figure out how they built the door frame and how it came apart. I took every single screw I could see out and still nothing moved. I just put all the screws back in and came in from a different direction.
