Hi - I have a Sundancer 240 and looking for any suggestions for stowing a couple of dive tanks out of the way.

Has anyone ever attempted installing mounting brackets in the engine bay? Is this a terrible idea? There seems to be enough space either side of the engine to fibreglass mount a couple of brackets top and bottom with the bottles laying on their sides. They would obviously need to have extremely secure fastenings.

Any suggestions or images of what others have done on their boats to secure their scuba tanks would be most welcome.

If you mounted them in the engine room area, wouldn't you end up breathing in hot air? I'm not a diver but I wouldn't think that would feel very good on the throat, lungs, etc.

I'm not an engineer nor a specialist but it sounds a bad idea to store a pressurized dive tank (around 200-230 bar) in a hot and small engine bay near a gas engine and would be a time bomb. I store my 18 liter steel dive tank in the cabin laying on the floor far from engine room and cooler.
