I've got quite a mystery I'm hoping someone can assist with.

My 5ECD was burning the # 6 fuse (Generator DC charging circuit) over the past several years so I recently replaced the DC Voltage Regulator which allowed it to start charging the batteries for a short time but it then stopped charging them again.

I went thru the test procedures and measured over 28 volts AC coming from the stator so it appears good. I then checked the regulator's ground circuit which appeared to not be operating (No continuity with the main grounding bolt) so I ran a new lead directly from the bolt.

The DC output from the regulator shows 18 volts, but the batteries are still showing less voltage when the generator is on than when it is off. I connected the regulator's DC output directly to a battery's positive terminal and started the genny, but this didn't raise it's voltage either.

Any suggestions?

Have a similar issue with my 5ECD....with genny running the battery voltage doesn't appear
to change...checked the fuse #6 and it had blown...replaced and it still doesn't show any battery charging...
could be the DC voltage regulator??
Any luck with your issue?
