Thanks, the bay is small (3.5 miles long or so) so it stays relatively calm until boat traffic gets crazy. That being said Lake Ontario was an absolute dream all weekend. 5 knot winds out of the south and 80+ degrees. Looks like the weather is going to keep up all week too

New to cruisers - just purchased a '99 290DA at the beginning of the month. Trying to understand the trim tabs. When I run the switches full nose down should the tabs be down? Do I want that position to help get on plane faster? Thanks
 
Nose down meams tabs down. That is what you want for getting on plane quicker. Also drives down until the bow comes over.... Then adjust to your liking.
Hopefully you enjoy your boat. Great boat.
 
Took LDII out for a little spin tonight after filling up and adding Sta-Bil.

Not to many folks on the river today so I throttled up and let it rip....... so nice to just hear the hum of the 5.0's and the boat was sooooo smooth ........ a little tab, a little trim, bimini top only...... and according to my phone GPS hit 38 mph. How does that compare? ...... both engines have about 800 hours on them.
 
Has anyone come up with a unique storage solution for the mirrored closet in the main cabin to make it more usable? If you can post some pictures that would be great. Right now I'm just using the space to store towels but as you know it's so deep I'll never use the bottom towel unless you dig down.

Also I have the B interior design with the permanent v berth and it has cubicles under the cushions.... and even the floor cubicle..... my questions do folks actually use these for storage?
 
In the process of removing our remote oil filter assemblies and replacing all gaskets and hoses. what a royal PIA. My arm is shredded and I've only got one of the hoses off. Waiting on a new wrench for the center nut. Had to take the exhaust off just to be able to see the damn things. I'll snap some pics if I can remember, but what a nightmare.

Also, anyone replace the blowers? Mine tripped the breaker on the way to the ramp for haul out (good timing) and they've become super noisy lately.
 
Anyone used or seen a fisher canvas installed on our boats? I may have the opportunity to get into one quite cheap, just curious on the frame installation.
 
To follow up on this, I bought the cover. It’s in great shape and I got it for $500. Super thick material,vents,door in the transom. I’ll post some pics once it’s installes but I really like the idea of this instead of shrink wrap every year. Around here shrink costs about $400 so it’s a little more than one year worth.

It will probably allow your boat to breath better as well during the winter months.
 
As promised. This thing is awesome, super heavy duty and not bad at all to install even though it was my first go around. The frame is only 1x3's for now, but fisher recommends a more elaborate PVC pipe frame. I wanted to get the cover on because our cockpit cover is a POS, but I may tweak the supper over the next week or so. One small tear in the top (caused by me) that I'm just going to fabric tape this year and then get fixed next year over the summer

Dirty bottom and i hit 33.9 knots on my way back in today, half tank fuel, full water, probably full poop tank 3 adults and 2 kids on board. Still climbing slowly when i had to slow for the no wake zone. Drives and bottom looked pretty clean when i got back to yhe dock though, minor fuzz only. 1-5.0 carb, 1-357 alpha. 21P stainless 3 blades.
Wife acknowledged today that we should start saving $$$ to put a new engine in on the starboard side. I told her we would be able to do well over 40 when we do, she wasnt impressed
