460 DA Owners Thread

Thanks Doozie! I have the trim ring off but how do I get the light down?

Josh

Hardtop lights: I replaced all the bulbs with LED, then placed a festoon bracket in each unit to receive a colored bulb. I then converted the switch on the dash to a three way. Now I can have the full brightness of the white LED on the "up-switch" and tone it down for colored lighting on the "down-switch". The light units are large enough to handle the replacements plus the festoon cartridge addition. (Also added colored rope lights under the seats and other accents to tie into the theme.) I cannot remember the bulb specs but the arrangement has been working perfectly for eight seasons.

On the hardtop lights you have to twist the trim ring to get it off, then you can remove the housing. Haven't replaced them, but did rewire so I have white lights and blue lights.
Interested in how you rewired them. I've looked at replacing with LED fixtures that have both white and blue but that's expensive. And the two halogen bulbs in each are so bright. Would love to just replace the bulbs with LED bulbs (like I did in the saloon) and make one blue. Is that what you did?

That's what I did, had to install a second wire to each fixture, separate the lamps in the fixture, change the switch to a on-off-on. Bought the lamps from Super Bright LED. can be a little difficult fishing the wires but very doable.

I am upgrading our electronics on our 01 460. Has anyong purchased new dash panels as the new electronics are going to be different sizes and dont need the extra holes in the panels

Thanks
John

Hi John - When we upgraded electronics I called Tecnografic who made the OEM panels. I got the complete and drilled holes myself (which voids their warranty) but they will make and send predrilled if you send a template. Here's my before and after.

We just ordered all new electronics. Starting to figure out my wiring. Does anyone know where the existing nmea2000. Connections are o. 01 460.
Thanks John

Your 01’ most likely doesn’t have nmea2000. All of the connections are behind the dash panels. I also used tecnografic and had them cut the holes. Panels look brand new! My boat neighbor used flounder pounder but my panels are a notch better then his.

Thanks everyone for the lighting info. Looks like I need to order some bulbs.

What electronics are you installing? I'm at that stage where the "E" screens are ten years old and the ST7001+ is even older. I would look at Garmin but I wouldn't be able to use my digital Raymarine radar. I'm considering Axiom or Axiom Pro and Evolution autopilot.

We went with Garmin. I planned on upgrading the current open array Raymarine radar so it made the switch to Garmin easier. We are installing a 7610xsv a 7608xsv new auto pilot and a 24" fanton radar dome. And a new Garmin vhf.210.also changing the rudder indicator to garmin.

Does anyone have the air filter replacement info?
I currently have a K&N B030A4 and Airsep 3866468 but haven't been able to locate the replacements on line or sbmar
Thanks

So on to the next project on "Joint Custody"
Down lighting and cockpit lighting.

I would like to change out both down and cockpit lighting to multicolored lighting. In a other part of this form " Electronics Q/A" there is a post " 280 radar arch light change "
If you read this post there seams to be a easy fix for this by just changing out the fixtures and using same wiring and switch .http://lumiteclighting.com/product/halo-flush-mount-down-light-copy/

My question is this . Has anyone done this change and can it be that simple? On my 2001 The down lights are Viareggion yacht lights model Cantalupiz and the cockpit lights are Perko.
I think the down lighting would be a little more challenging on the 460 than the 280.

Thoughts?

We are going to be adding a tv to the cockpit of our 2001 460 . I was thinking of a 32" of the port side above the sink mounted to the hardtop support. Two questions do we need to add any extra blocking behind the fiberglass as support and does anyone have a 32 mounted that they can share a picture of.
Thanks
John

Hey John,
I have a 32" mounted just as you describe -

Thanks. We purchased a 32" going to mount it hopefully soon. Changing radar tomorrow so hopefully by the weekend tv will be installed

Has anyone removed a raymarine r80. Does the front come off some how or are screws underneath the dash

Thanks john

Sorry if in the wrong place. Thought other 460 owners would like to see what fall boating on Lake Powell Utah looks like.
Last pic... 750 pound wave runner on the swim deck and 14ft jet boat being towed behind. Dam love these Cummins!

Go for the swivel / extend mount, it makes it much better viewing from the aft bench

The cockpit downlights are 5.5 inches so you have 2 options I can find. First option is replacing the fixture with an imtra model. They have 180’s that for the space and have red/white or blue/white leds. Be prepared they are 179.00 each. Your other option is just to replace the bulbs in the fixtures with LED but this won’t give you multi colors.

As far as removing the R80. It is screwed in from behind. You will have to find access to get behind it or have someone with long arms reach from the access panel under the helm.
