I'm just curious how folks in other areas of the country handle this. We are landlocked and most of our time on board is spent swimming/floating/lubricating. Since we're in and out of the boat all weekend, most of us remove our cockpit carpet as it just gets too wet and eventually nasty. You folks up north may not swim as much. The folks on the coasts become bait if your floating too much (at least that's my fear). So, what'dya say, cockpit carpet in or out?

Go with Infinity instead of carpet.

I am not a fan of carpet on boats. I think it looks cheap and then there are the practical reasons you mentioned. I went with no flooring for awhile both in the salon and the cockpit/bridge. Then I put in Infinity vinyl. There are pics of the finished install somewhere in the 400DB thread. Two years later it looks and feels exactly as new. It has no problem with salt water environment.

I like the carpet, though not on the swim platform. We have towels laying over the transom and when we come out of the water, we dry off as best we can. Yes, we track a little water, but when it is hot, it dries very quickly. The other thing I have done is treat the carpet with the 303 Fabric Protector and it sheds water. Never had a problem. We tried some of the faux teak on the swim platform on our 260DA and will never do that again. It got so incredibly hot, you could not stand on it in the summer...never again.

I leave it in, as it feels better on our barefeet. It usually dries quickly, and I've never seen mold or rot in 5 years it's been in.

Carpet out... Aqua Marine Deck in! Sheds water great!

Out rolled up and in the attic. Aside from getting wet, my youngest is 2. There is always a snack mess or spill to wash out. No carpets mean a quick rinse and towel dry. Might consider Infinity when we are out of this stage.

I keep going back and forth just being frustrated with either decision. Going to go with infinity when I've had enough! My threshold for frustration seems to be high lately.

No carpet for me. Not on this boat and not on the last two. I like to be able to hose out the areas where the carpet used to be like the cockpit on the 330's and the fly bridge and cockpit on this boat.

The Infinity or Corinthian Vinyl is the only way to go! We put it in our 460 and everyone loves it!

I kept my carpet on the bridge, it stays dry and pretty clean in the enclosure and I like the way it feels. I removed it in the cockpit for easy rinsing. When we wear what we have out we will go with infinity.

kept the carpet in on the 340DA. Took all the carpet out on the 47DB.

My preference is no carpet.

We have carpet in the upper cockpit under the hardtop. It is easier on bare feet than aggressive non skid decks. The lower cockpit has no carpeting. Makes it easy to hose off sand and gifts from the gulls and other feathered friends.
