Hi there! We just bought a 1987 Sundancer 340. The interior needs some tlc .. I was hoping to get input on how to clean the fabric area in the forward berth. It's covered with a carpet like material and is stained.. I'm afraid to get it too wet but want to sanitize the area. Also I need new covers for both foam beds (forward and mid)..Where can I order these?
Thanks for any input! We are new at this and have lots to learn.

Does the stain seem like mildew? Mine was stained from the previous owner not replacing the 20x20 escape hatch. I'm in the process of replacing the headliner as one of my fall projects. I tried an assortment of cleaners with cloths and brushes to no avail.

It doesn't appear to be mildew, but I want to sanitize it as much as possible without getting it too wet. I didn't think of replacement.. but now you have me thinking! Are you doing it yourself?

Yes I am, especially having the months the boat is out of the water and have time to remove the old stuff and put new headliner in. Iv'e already started with the dinette cushions. purchased the material at Joann Fabrics

A company called Perfect-Fit was recommended to me by a member on this site for Hulliner and headliner material.

Mindy, take a look at this website. www.sailrite.com They sell marine upholstery and they have an entire how-to video library of projects related to boat upholstery and canvas. We owned a 1989 340 Sundancer and did all of our own decorating and reupholstering using the Sailrite supplies and watching their videos.

All of us that owned those boats laughingly talked about our "80s "Disco Colors" and what to do with them. We had the maroon and mauve (It's Pink folks....no matter what you call it) color theme so ours looked like an "80s Cathouse. We made a lot of upgrades on our boat and I have pictures somewhere if you would like to see them. There was even a Thread dedicated to them but I can't recall the name. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, Sailrite is a great source for marine upholstery. Just like anything else, comparison shopping may yield better pricing.

I have used many products from Sailrite and yes, their videos are very informative.

+1 on Sailrite. They are a great company with great products and people. Even if you don't want to do your own work their videos are great learning experience.

I too recently purchased an 87 sundancer with the same kind of water marks. I bought a carpet shampoo machine from wal mart, it's the Bissell mean green or something, worked like a champ on the carpet, it will sanitize the water marks and clean up a lot of them but the really yellow ones are hard to get.

Mine were neglected by the previous owners and have gone to far to be resurrected. Time to tear down the old and replace with the new over the off season

Can you have it professionally steam cleaned and then dye it?
I have one of those little green machines and it's a great little machine, but it doesn't work nearly as well as the truck mounted professional machines like Stanley Steemer uses.

I have communicated with another member on this site who shared photos of his redo and I would rather start with new than try to work with the almost 30 year old material. It's not a hard job to accomplish off-season. Even Sailrite has videos on it.
