Hi
I'm a UK citizen living in Florida for 4/5 months a year. In March of this year I purchased a 1999/2000 400 Sundancer and had just a month using her before returning home. She's moored in a bay on the Intracoastal in Delray Beach outside our condo. Looking forward to returning to Florida in December and to acquainting myself further with this boat. A couple of questions: where are the fill-in cushions for the mid-cabin kept and also for the settee in the saloon to make both fit for sleeping? Also, where can I purchase fitted sun pads for the front fore deck?
Regards
Britman

Hi Brit - welcome to CSR and congrats on getting your boat.

There isn't dedicated storage for any of the fill-in cushions. I keep the settee cushion at home in the garage.

There also would've been a cushion that fits the tabletop in the cockpit, and a short support post so the table can be mounted at seat-level.

btw, are you aware of the fresh water tank issues on 400DA's? Don't fill your tank completely until you do some reading!

Hi Rollercoastr,
Thanks for the rapid reply and the cushions must still be in the sellers garage! No table fill in but there is a short post somewhere.
What exactly is the problem with the water tanks as I have not filled them yet until I return in December. I also need some replacement Raymarine displays as they have all aged badly in the sun

My 410 is not exactly the same as yours, but pretty close.
The fillers for the settee will squeeze in to the storage area under the settee itself with a little squeezing and finesse.
My aft berth has a long thin filler that fits between the cushion and bulkhead when the sofa is layed down. Mine came in a storage bag and fits nicely in the very dry under floor storage compartment closest to the galley.
The sunpad can be made up by any good canvas and vinyl shop.
Re: Your faded Raymarine displays.
If the electronics on your boat are original from 1999 you are probably looking at an almost total upgrade. If so, shop around for other brands before committing to stay with Raymarine.
There are other games in town that might suit your needs better.
The previous owner of my boat replaced the original radar with a Raymarine HD open array and two 12" Raymarine MfD's in 2014 so I was pretty lucky that I won't be facing that expense in the near future. However, the other side of that coin is that I am committed to Raymarine for the next few years and I would really rather have Garmin equipment.
I had Garmin on my old boat and found it much simpler for the average end user to operate than the Raymarine equipment. I'm not that much of a techie and would rather spend my time on the boat doing something other than flipping through complicated manuals all the time.
A friend just went with Lowrance equipment and he is very happy with that.

Thanks for your informative reply. We've already looked under the settees and nothing there! There's a pretty good canvas shop close by so I'll try that. I have one working Raymarine 120 and all the others i.e. speed, depth, VHF, radar are all working Raymarine so I'll stick with them. Probably eBay for replacements unless anyone has better suggestions.

The tank is L-shaped poly, located under the aft and port sections of your mid-cabin seating. It tends to crack at the top inside corner. If your tank has a crack in it and you overfill the tank until water comes out the hullside vent, it's very likely that water will escape the tank and fill the surrounding cavity. (and find it's way into the carpet)

Several of our members have removed, repaired, reinforced and re-installed their tanks. I haven't. I'm just very careful about not filling it much more than 3/4ths.

The 400DA settee filler btw is a BEAST. More than it needs to be IMO. I bet you could find a 400DA owner to provide a pattern, but it's designed to extend beyond the telescoping support, so not all of the cushion provides usable surface. If I had one custom-made, I would be tempted to cut the size down so it could be more easily stored aboard.
