Houston/TX Gulf Coast

Here is an update:

First: I give this city some credit, only 2 fatalities and the first responders are working nonstop to get everyone to safety.

Our house is dry and we actually have power as well. I'm sure you have all seen the news, but I will post some more pics and video shortly. I did put a few up yesterday under the thread HARVEY.

Thanks for the prayers, many in Houston need help and efforts are ongoing. FYI, our boat is fine, I am so thankful for Frank Webster, he called me and gave me some additional ideas on how to secure it, IT WORKED!

The storm is leaving land and will return tomorrow night at Galveston so I'll post as I can.

Thanks

Josh

I suspect Rockport is just utter devastation of property due to wind and surge, but because so many evacuated it was not getting much coverage on Saturday when I was watching. I heard Friday that it was upgraded from a CAT 3 to a 4 and shuddered.

Houston looks to be a horror! I feel for all the folks flooded there, areas I'm sure have never flooded before ever are inundated with water. I suspect some did not have flood insurance either, going to be a long road to recovery for the Houston area for sure.

We are high and dry here, no problems and no power outages. My boat is on a floating dock in a hurricane hole and even though was 3 feet of water in the parking lot, the boats faired well. Just a drizzly rain right now and from the looks of the weather maps that looks to be it for the next couple of days. We had about 20 hours of little to no rain which allowed the flooded areas time to drain down a bit.

All in all it has gone pretty well in many areas but a large area is obviously hard hit and many people are facing some hard times ahead.

Talked to a friend who kept his new center console in a dry-stack place in Rockport. He towed it home to San Antonio about a week ago to work on it some. Talk about lucky!

Talked to a friend that keeps a 46 Sport Fisherman at a marina on Mustang Island, near Aransas Pass. She's on a floating dock. Got word today that the boat is ok.

Now her street in Houston is starting to flood.

Saw the photos of the dry stack on the coast - devastated.

When you bump up to Cat 4 - insurance is more important than dry stack - just what I am observing.

We live in north Texas - so 3-400 miles from the devastation. Thoughts are with our south Texas friends. This is a storm for the record books.

Just curious - what were Frank's suggestions?
