Cherman- I replaced a 16k unit in our last boat with marinaire. Yes it did have gauges built in. That is what I liked. As I am typing this my forward cabin AC unit has lost the fan speed. It is freaking 77* I. Here at 10:30 at night.

The MarinAire does use a different control panel, which in my opinion was a better panel. That said, I seem to recall they had an adapter so you could use the SMX.

Nice. How long have you had the unit? - which did you replace? Review? I am thinking about using them to replace forward and maybe the salon when they make the larger unit. What did you do about the SMX panel size difference?

Mine was installed on our old 340 Sundancer. I liked the unit. I made a new wall mount for the controller with a black vinyl wrap as it matched some of the trim in our old boat. The controller is a little wider and shorter than the SMX. I have a friend going on 5 years with his and it has been perfect. My forward AC unit fan is stuck on low and I am thinking about replacing with a Marinaire if it is going to cost about the same to fix this older unit.

MarineAir is also owned by Dometic so they are most likely built with the same parts as Crusair.

There are 2 different companies with very similar names. The one Knot Quiet bought was the one not affiliated with Dometic. It is a good unit at a great price.

Very nice we thought we had to replace our sub zero freezer but was able to have it repaired. What was the cost for the 2 units

How was the install, difficult? Is it a do it yourself kind of job - I'm concerned with the finish work but it appears that the face is trimmed out in the middle and edges very nicely with stainless, is it included? Appears to belong in the space.
